Red Bull has had a brilliant start to the season so far. They have continued their form from the previous season by winning each of the six races this year. Other front-running teams like Ferrari and Mercedes struggle to keep up with the Red Bull’s commanding pace. Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz believes that no team will succeed in contesting with Red Bulls.

“I think Red Bull will stay ahead for a few more races before anyone can really stumble them. They are at a very, very high level, and I congratulate them because they have built a very strong car this season,” Sainz told Motorsport-Total.com. Red Bull has so far won each of the six races in the 2023 season. Max Verstappen is already a favorite to win the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend after topping the free practice sessions yesterday.

Sainz also mentioned how Ferrari has managed to challenge Red Bull at a few tracks, especially in qualifying. “There were tracks where we were able to annoy Red Bull a bit in qualifying,” said Sainz referring to the only pole secured by Ferrari so far: the Spaniard’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, secured pole position at Baku.

Originally decided to bring an update later in the season, Ferrari decided to tweak their car for the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix. Their upgrades include a revised floor, a new rear wing, and the side pods losing their bathtub-like appearance. Red Bull has well have decided to make minor adjustments to their car this weekend. Several other teams, like AlphaTauri, McLaren, Aston Martin, etc., have brought minor upgrades to Barcelona.

In the two practice sessions held so far in Barcelona, Ferrari has not been overly impressive. The Scuderia finished the FP2 session in the 8th and 9th and FP3 in the 6th and 7th positions. Ferrari is currently P4 in the constructors’ championship and will look to improve in Spain after a disappointing Monaco Grand Prix.

Red Bull has been the team to beat so far in the championship. The Milton Keynes-based team is currently leading the constructors’ and the drivers’ standings. No team looks like they can annoy the Bulls anytime soon. With rain forecasted for the qualifying session in Spain, Ferrari will be waiting to challenge Red Bull and Max Verstappen.
