“World Given Championship” – Fans DISMISS Max Verstappen’s historic third F1 title win, claim FIA’s bias and Red Bull’s ‘illegal’ car helped him

The Qatar GP has not yet ended but it has already become a historic race for the Formula One world. The Sprint Race at the Lusail Circuit saw Max Verstappen get beaten to the first spot by McLaren rookie Oscar Piastri, but the Dutchman scored enough to get his hands on the F1 World Championship title for a third time in a row. With this, Max has now entered an exclusive echelon of F1 racers with a Championship hat-trick to his name. But some of the followers of the sport are not happy with this.

Max Verstappen’s rise to stardom has not been without a fair share of controversies. In 2021, when he put up a challenge to his massively experienced rival Lewis Hamilton for a career-first title win, the fans of the British racer stubbornly claimed that the FIA conspired to make Max win. The incident had unfolded during the season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when the two racing greats had an epic showdown and one of the F1 Race Director Michael Masi’s decisions had a part to play in it.

Max Verstappen’s first World Championship win was so controversial that Masi was sacked from his job, and half the F1 fandom is still not ready to accept that the Red Bull driver had won in 2021. Then, in 2022, his team got caught up in the cost-cap scandal as they surpassed the cost ceiling imposed by F1. This led to many fans calling Verstappen’s win ‘illegal’ since Red Bull allegedly spent more than the other teams on developing their car. And now, in 2023, Max Verstappen has continued an almost undefeated run throughout the first 15 races until he got declared the World Champion in Qatar.

Fans claim not skills but Red Bull’s ‘rocketship’ catapulted Max Verstappen to the front of the F1 Standings

Going just by the sheer number of races that Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have won in 2023, it can be said that Red Bull’s RB-19 is most probably their best creation till date. None of the other cars have even come close to running at the speed of the RB-19, and this has given both the RBR drivers a massive advantage over their teammates. Thus, fans believe Max Verstappen won the 2023 Championship just because of his car, and not because of his driving skills. And the sole reason that Sergio Perez failed, according to the fans, is because Red Bull always prioritizes Verstappen over him.

Some fans have even claimed that the FIA had a bias towards Red Bull and Max Verstappen. It was clear as day that the stewards needed to impose a penalty on Max when he impeded Yuki Tsunoda on the track thrice at the Japanese GP. But the incident was swept under the rug, causing many of the fans to suspect that the FIA were in Red Bull’s grasp. This has also made them doubt Max Verstappen’s worth for winning the World Championship.

But the truth of the moment is that Red Bull have captured the Constructors’ World Championship in their long-term partner Honda’s home country, Japan. And only a few weeks later, Max Verstappen has also now been declared a three-time World Champion. Now, the onus is upon their rival teams andax’s competitors to come up with better cars and better strategies to shatter the 25-year-old’s formidable Championship record so that the fans can see a new face at the top of the Standings in the upcoming seasons.
