Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are believed to be the two title contenders for the 2023 F1 title. Verstappen is keen on bringing home a third consecutive championship this season, while Perez aims to prove his worth at Red Bull. Unfortunately, things have gone from bad to worse for the Mexican driver at the Monaco GP.
The 33-year-old started from last place after crashing out in Q1 on Saturday. Checo was already under pressure after the incident, as many criticized his drive. Now, during the race, the Mexican driver has failed to make his way up the pecking order. Subsequently, Verstappen, who had been leading the GP, came right at the back of his teammate by Lap 31 of the race.
Max Verstappen swiftly passed his championship rival as Sergio was shown the blue flag. Perez managed to let his teammate pass without hampering his race. The Mexican driver tried to exploit Max’s advantage to overtake Lance Stroll. However, the 33-year-old failed to make the chicane and had to drive straight through, testing the track limits. Checo made contact with Kevin Magnussen shortly after.

On the other hand, fans were quick to point out Sergio Perez‘s reputation for performing well on street tracks. Certainly, this has not been the case this time around at the Monaco GP. One fan replied, “Jester of the streets”. Additionally, users also wondered how chaotic the sport could be. As the championship contender overtakes his biggest rival. Thus, Sergio Perez is having a disaster in a race in Monaco. The Mexican driver has failed to make up places in the race while facing humiliation at the hands of his teammate. Certainly, this could severe the 33-year-old prospects for the world title this season.
