Alonso expressed his delight after an impressive third-place finish at Jeddah, the second race of the season. He will have a front-row start behind the pole-man Sergio Perez because of Leclerc’s penalty. Sergio Perez secured his second consecutive pole position at Jeddah, displaying an exceptional performance. Although Max Verstappen seemed to be in top form throughout the weekend, a drive shaft shunt during qualifying caused an issue that forced him to withdraw from Q2, leaving him with no representative time and a 15th-place starting position.
Fernando Alonso capitalized on the situation and secured a strong third-place qualifying position, surpassing Mercedes, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, and his teammate Lance Stroll. Additionally, due to Charles Leclerc‘s 10-place grid penalty due to a change in his ECU, he will be promoted to the front row of the grid. Despite having qualified in second place, Leclerc will start the race in 12th place.
Fernando Alonso expressed his excitement following the qualifying session. When asked about his feelings on starting ahead of the Mercedes cars, he responded categorically, saying, “ Yeah for sure, I mean (it) has been a very good weekend for us. Qualifying was a weakness or a weak point in Bahrain, but today the car seemed to perform very well on one lap and lets see what we can do tomorrow from here. Obviously Charles has a penalty so we will be starting on the first row of the grid. This is just amazing.” Mercedes qualified third, with George and Hamilton managing only eighth.
Aston Martin hopes to continue their impressive form from the season debut
Aston Martin had a remarkable start to the season, emerging as the second-best car in Bahrain with a decent race pace and tyre wear. The English team demonstrated a strong performance during the Friday practice sessions, with the Spaniard securing a top-three position in all three sessions. When questioned about his confidence for tomorrow’s race, Fernando promptly replied ” Yeah we are confident, the long runs yesterday were affected by traffic but the car felt very strong. And still, the strongest point of the car is the long run pace and how we treat the tyres so yeah it should be better on Sundays than on Saturdays. We are starting on the first row, it feels really great.”
Alonso exhibited a highly impressive performance this weekend and finished just four-tenths of a second behind pole-sitter Sergio Perez. For a while, Alonso held the p rovisional pole position, sparking excitement amongst his fans. However, Red Bull’s strong performance soon overshadowed his efforts.Alonso is renowned for his exceptional race starts, and it will be intriguing to see what the two-time champion has in store to challenge Red Bull’s dominance. Red Bull was the frontrunner from the outset, and with Max starting in 15th place and Leclerc in 12th, it will be fascinating to see how they progress up the grid and what the race has to offer.
