“Kleenex will be making a fortune from me this weekend”: F1 fans post their sad comments on Yuki Tsunoda’s last message to Pierre Gasly
Helmut Marko on Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda
The time has finally come, and it is officially the end of this year’s Formula One season. Undoubtedly, the mood around the F1 paddocks is not the usual cheerful one as four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel will be leaving the sport at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, walking away from one of the most legendary F1 careers in history. And to add to that, several of the teams will be breaking up since Fernando Alonso will go to Aston Martin to take Seb’s place, and Pierre Gasly will leave AlphaTauri for Alpine.
Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda’s friendship has been one for the books, even if their race records are none too impressive. While the French racer came into AlphaTauri after getting demoted from Red Bull in the middle of the 2019 season, Tsunoda debuted with the Italian team in 2021. Ever since then, the two have built quite the camaraderie between them, and fans have always adored their bond.
Now that Pierre Gasly is finally leaving the sister team of Red Bull Racing, Yuki Tsunoda has decided to bid adieu to his friend and teammate as they walk into Abu Dhabi for racing together one last time. Thus, right across his halo, Pierre has got the message “Grazie, Pierre” written in a bold font–and fans have posted their warm comments on Yuki’s sad farewell.

Yuki Tsunoda says goodbye to Pierre Gasly with a sweet message during the Abu Dhabi GP weekend
Pierre Gasly has had a long history with AlphaTauri ever since stepping into Formula 1. The French racer had debuted with Toro Rosso–which was AlphaTauri’s previous name–at the Malaysian GP 2017. In 2019, Gasly went to Red Bull, only to be demoted to AlphaTauri mid-season as Alex Albon was chosen to be his replacement as Max Verstappen’s teammate. Then, Gasly got his career-first Grand Prix victory in Monza in 2020 with AlphaTauri.

Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly is all geared up to partner fellow French racer Esteban Ocon in Alpine. The French team has come up as a formidable opponent for McLaren with some impressive results in this current season, which have made them into one of the top teams in the middle order–and a lot of this is because of Fernando Alonso. Thus, there is no doubt that Pierre Gasly has big shoes to fill once he gets settled into his new team.
