So far in the 2023 season, Red Bull are a league above everyone else. With Max Verstappen winning five out of the seven races, the Dutch are already on board to win his 3rd world title. With the form Red Bull has portrayed, no other team looks fit to beat the Milton Keynes outfit. However, at the press conference, Verstappen stated that he does not mind Fernando Alonso winning too.
The Dutchman continued to praise the seasoned Fernando Alonso and claimed he fully deserved a win. The Red Bull driver leads the drivers’ standings, while Alonso sits in P3 with 99 points. Verstappen further emphasized that despite spending numerous years with midfield teams, the Spaniard remains an exceptional driver.
“I like him. He’s a real driver, and he deserves it, he never gives up. It’s been a lot of years where he had a car that he was in the middle of, but he’s an animal. If you ask me about a driver I want him to win a race this year, it’s Fernando Sometimes, after so many years of only having a car that is capable of driving in the midfield, maybe you lose a bit of that love but he is a real racer. He is an animal,” Max Verstappen said.

Can Fernando Alonso win his 33rd race and end his decade-long drought at the Canadian GP?
Fernando Alonso has racked up two world titles in 2005 and 2006 with Renault. In his career spanning more than two decades, the Spaniard has also secured 32 victories. However, in recent times Alonso has only scored seats with midfield teams, which may have cost him several wins and podiums.
However, after the rapid progress made by Aston Martin this year, is this the opportunity Alonso was waiting for? In the seven races in the season, the 41-year-old has a podium in 5. This resulted in a best-ever season for the Silverstone-based team. Alonso has also managed to be ahead of Mercedes’ and Ferrari in the driver’s standings. His teammate Lance Stroll, however, is way back at P9 in the standings.
Fernando Alonso’s last Formula One win was at the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix with Ferrari. The Spaniard had qualified his Alpine in P2 last year at Montreal in the wet. With rain forecasted at the Canadian GP, Alonso will surely be eyeing his 33rd victory.
