Apart from his Formula 1 quests, Max Verstappen is one of the best sim racers on the planet. However, Luck has not always been on his side when it comes to competing in online racing events. The sim racing community was under the spotlight a while ago when the Le Mans virtual 24 hour race was taking place. with a lot of drama taking place already, the Dutchman’s outburst brought light to a major issue.

2 time F1 world champion, Max Verstappen was participating in the Le Mans 24H virtual race with Redline racing. Having being in the lead of the race by about a minute, tragedy struck and it was all over for the Red Bull hotshot. Max got disconnected from the server and got thrown out from the game. Upon reconnecting, Max was so far behind that it was improbable to get back in a competitive position. This is why his team decided to retire the car.

This led to the Dutchman going on a public outburst where he went on to criticise the Le Mans Virtual organisers for failing to have better security for their event. Verstappen later went on to state that he will never participate in the event. All this criticism from the F1 hotshot, fans and other streamers has led to the organisers launching an investigation into what went wrong during the event.

In a statement, here is what the Le Mans Virtual Organisers had to say. “Whilst we have made significant improvements and bug fixes to the multiplayer code of the game in recent years, we are clearly still experiencing problems with legacy low-level networking code. Naturally, this is an unacceptable situation for any multiplayer environment, and we are committed to rewriting this code over the coming months to ensure a better experience for all players.”

However, what has happened cannot be undone. It really puts into question whether the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans will have the same amount of viewers as they did in previous times . This would solely be due to many drivers vowing to not participate in the event anymore due to the problems that they had to face. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen seems to have moved on and will be fully focused for the upcoming F1 season.
