Max Verstappen was the king of qualifying as he went on to get his first pole position in Spain. The Dutch championship contender was on a roll at the place where he once won his first ever F1 grand prix. Meanwhile, home hero Carlos Sainz went on to secure a front row start for Sunday. Fernando Alonso also seemed to disappoint as he did not manage to qualify at the front. However all hopes lie with the home heroes.

Meanwhile Sergio Perez and George Russell had pulled an absolute stinker as some fans would say. The former went on to make a few mistakes leading to him qualifying P11 and the latter went on to qualify in P12. Sergio has been under the microscope as he is supposed to be the only driver to challenge Max. Ever since Monaco, his performances have been disappointing.
