The recent news in the Formula 1 has been filled with reports of the Team Principals of various F1 teams shifting to other squads with new roles and different responsibilities. While the drivers are the ones who are always filmed and their exchanges are extensively covered by the media, it is the Team Principals who mostly carry on their work leading the team away from the public eye. As fans are not much aware of the dynamics between the heads of the F1 teams, Christian Horner‘s recent comment shed some light on this topic.

Before the 2022 season ended with a grand finale at Abu Dhabi about two weeks ago, Aston Martin racer Sebastian Vettel, who retired from F1 following the race at the Yas Marina Circuit, took all his racer colleagues out to dinner. Pictures from the drivers-only dinner went viral on social media as fans marveled at how the racers have such a warm friendship amongst them even though they are always at each other’s neck during the highly competitive F1 Grands Prix.

Now, in his latest interview, Christian Horner was asked if he believes such an exclusive dinner party can happen where only the Team Principals would be invited. But the Briton said the camaraderie between the Formula 1drivers is not reflected between the Team Principals, and there is too much animosity between them to get everyone to attend a dinner together.

Christian Horner explains the relationship between the Team Principals of the different F1 teams

As the leader of the most successful F1 team of this year, Christian Horner is arguably the Team Principal who enjoys the maximum media attention amongst all other Team Principals. Thus, he was the one to break it to the fans about how the Team Principals of the different F1 squads communicate with each other. Speaking about this, he said, “Unfortunately, the same amount of love isn’t shared around the team principals, as the drivers.

With the recent upheaval in the teams that started out with Alfa Romeo’s Frederic Vasseur taking up the job of acting as the Team Principal to Ferrari in place of Mattia Binotto, some new faces are set to join the F1 squads for the upcoming season. Noone has been confirmed as a replacement for Vasseur at Alfa Romeo yet, and Jost Capito’s place at Williams is also up for grabs. On the other hand, McLaren have already announced that Andrea Stella will take the helm at the Woking-based outfit now that Andreas Seidl is out. Now, it is to be seen how these new team leaders exhibit their management skills in F1 2023.
