On most days, Formula 1 is a sport which welcomes the idea of inclusivity with arms wide open, but this elite sport, too, has fallen prey to the internet trolls in recent times. As the latest reports suggest, Sky Sports pundit Naomi Schiff has received some flack on Twitter for appearing on TV while interviewing some personnel from the highest league of Motorsports. Their complaint appears to be that she is not qualified enough for her role.

The controversy became denser as the criticism gained more traction on social media and more people started bashing Naomi Schiff for simply being an F1 reporter. And that is when some of the F1 racers started to speak out in support of the Rwandan-Belgian racer–such as Lewis Hamilton. And current F1 World Champioship leader Max Verstappen has joined in on the conversation as he has given his statement supporting Naomi Schiff.

Max Verstappen has spoken out to back Naomi Schiff as the Sky Sports F1 reporter was getting bashed by internet trolls for simply appearing at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix because they had asserted that she is not qualified enough.

While speaking on this topic, Max Verstappen made his stand on the topic of trolling very clear. He said, “Usually the people who hate on you are frustrated people in their own lives. They sit at home behind their keyboards. They can say anything they want and think it’s correct. Usually when you meet these people in real life, they don’t dare say these things at all.

Max Verstappen also said, “We all receive hate. So do I, but do I care? No, because those people don’t even deserve the attention. If you ignore them, it’s more painful for them than if you give them attention.
