The 2024 F1 season has burst into life since the Dutch GP. Amidst McLaren’s rise, Max Verstappen is giving his all in the Championship and Red Bull is required to step up its game with the development of the RB20.

Seeing the shift of power in McLaren’s favor, Mercedes’ Toto Wolff has come up with his assessment. The Austrian believes that Red Bull as a team has gone a bit flat in terms of performance, and it is only Max Verstappen who is keeping them in the running.

Wolff via his reaction, has indirectly made it known that the reigning world champion needs assistance from his team. Red Bull didn’t have the best package in Zandvoort, and as a consequence, Verstappen lost to Lando Norris by a margin of 22.9 seconds.

Toto Wolff’s take on young prodigy Andrea Kimi Antonelli

Andrea Kimi Antonelli has dominated the F1 headlines despite not being on the grid. He is tipped for a Mercedes drive next year and is even slated to take part in the Italian GP Free Practice 1 session.

Toto Wolff feels it is important to give exceptional young talents a chance as soon as possible.

Without pre-empting too much about next year's drivers, in a way, when such talent comes up, it's not right either to park someone, or place someone with another team. With George it was probably a year too long with Williams. But then also we didn't really have any space before. Let's see what happens, but in a way I think we took the right decision for the benefit of Lewis, the team's benefit, Kimi. It feels right.

Antonelli is set to take the place of Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. The young starlet will have big shoes to fill next year and considering this, it will be fascinating to see how he will perform in the upcoming FP1 session. Several eyes will be glued on the young Italian around the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit.
