Lewis Hamilton seemed to struggle in F1’s ground effect era since 2022. The seven-time world champion had not won a race for almost three years. However, things have finally took a turn for the better for Hamilton. As the 39-year-old emerged victorious at the British GP for the ninth time in his F1 career.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff had previously claimed that Lewis Hamilton will win a race at the Silver Arrows before moving to Ferrari next year. The Austrian billionaire was ecstatic to see the seven-time world champion cross the chequered flag in first place. After the race, Wolff claimed that he felt that another win for Hamilton will come this year.

Toto Wolff highlighted that Lewis Hamilton’s victory came as a fairytale. The British driver won his home race in his final season with Mercedes. Wolff reckoned that this was undoubtedly a fantastic result for Hamilton and the Silver Arrows.

Toto Wolff claims Lando Norris became an advantage for Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone

In the ending stages of the British GP, Max Verstappen found himself in prime position for a potential victory. The Dutch driver was putting in the quickest laps and came within two seconds of Lewis Hamilton. However, Verstappen simply ran out of time to try and fight his arch-rival for the race win.

Toto Wolff admitted that Max Verstappen was rapidly closing in on Lewis Hamilton in the closing stage. However, Lando Norris was in between the two drivers. Wolff asserted that this gave an advantage to Hamilton as Verstappen had to first overtake the McLaren driver.

Well it was closing down for a while pretty quickly. And I knew that there was Norris in between so that was advantageous.

Certainly, Toto Wolff is thrilled to see Lewis Hamilton on the top step of the podium for the first time since the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP. The seven-time world champion burst into tears after the race as he cherished his victory.
