Mount is not the only player Tuchel wants to sign from his former club.

Bayern Munich wants to sign Mason Mount, with new manager Thomas Tuchel eager to reunite with him. Last week, the German giants shockingly fired Julian Nagelsmann. They are already preparing their summer moves and are reportedly interested in the England international.

Mount was a key player for Tuchel at Chelsea, winning the Champions League with the German boss in 2021. The 24-year-old’s long-term future in London has been questioned after lengthy contract negotiations. Mount recently rejected a £200,000-a-week deal at Stamford Bridge. Contract discussions are in progress, with Mason hoping to land a salary similar to the £300,000-a-week wage held by England team-mate Raheem Sterling.

Both parties have yet to agree on a deal, and an exit is becoming increasingly likely. Mount’s current contract expires next summer. According to reports, Bayern hopes to take advantage of the contract stalemate and lure Mount into a cut-price deal. However, reports suggest Chelsea plans to fetch at least £50 million from the Englishman.

The Blues’ reported loss of £121 million last season, which followed a loss of £153.4 million the previous season, will almost certainly force Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly to sell players to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Talks began last summer in hope of keeping Mount at Stamford Bridge. However, Boehly may wish to offload the playmaker after a busy couple of transfer windows resulting in a boost to the Chelsea midfield.

During his two transfer windows at the club, the American co-owner has spent well over £500 million on new players, luring British record signing Enzo Fernandez, £88 million man Myhkailo Mudryk, and £35 million star Benoit Badiashile in January alone. In addition to Bayern, Liverpool and Manchester United have expressed interest in Mount, with both looking to rebuild Jurgen Klopp’s ageing midfield in the summer window.

The Bundesliga champions, who have won the German top flight in each of the last ten seasons, are also interested in hiring Chelsea assistant coach Anthony Barry. According to sources, Barry told the Blues on Tuesday that he intends to follow Tuchel to Germany. The clubs are currently negotiating compensation ahead of a possible deal. Barry worked under Tuchel at Stamford Bridge before joining Potter’s squad in September.

Thomas Tuchel is also interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic. Bayern Munich made an attempt to sign the Croatian international while he was still under contract with Real Madrid. Tuchel reportedly admires the 28-year-old and helped the midfielder establish himself as a starter and leader. Chelsea and Kovacic’s contract negotiations are currently on hold.
