When Nico Rosberg defeated Lewis Hamilton, it saw the end of a long-term friendship in the world of formula 1. With the boils heating up race after race, fans knew that the rivalry developing between two teammates in 2016 was never going to end in a non-controversial matter. Now title protagonist Max Verstappen believes it is easier for Rosberg to get the better of Hamilton as a teammate than him, pertaining to the championship battle. 

Safe to say 2021 Championship battle has been a tough one for both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Yet it seems like with only 6 races to go, no one could predict the winner as the champion may very well be decided in the very last race of the season.

When asked by German media about his comparison to Rosberg’s triumph, Max Verstappen said, “Not really. They were in the same car. It’s easier to beat your teammate then. We have different cars, so it’s something different.”

“I think you can only judge the real driver performance for yourself if you are sitting next to someone in the same car”. 

Moreover, Red Bull’s ace Max Verstappen also spoke about the potential of his rivalry with Lewis Hamilton in the same interview. It was observed that the Dutchman is not concerned with how his feud will rank among the all-time greats.

“For me, Senna vs Prost sounds best,” he said. “But seriously, I don’t think about it too much. I don’t really see this rivalry with Lewis Hamilton that way either. “I just focus on myself and the team. That’s when we have the best chance.” 

Having said that, at the end Verstappen admitted that it feels excellent to challenge Mercedes for the title this year as the latter has dominated the sport for quite some time, making the fight more interesting.
