Lewis Hamilton Comments Worrying Statements Regarding Mercedes’ Performance.
Lewis Hamilton
Seven-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton has made a worrying comment regarding his team’s performance over the last few races. Since the summer break, Mercedes have made massive improvements and have gained a lot more pace than they had before the summer and the results reflect the same as Valtteri Bottas confidently won at the Turkish Grand Prix.
Red Bull on the other hand look worried as Mercedes are much faster than they used to be. Team principal, Christian Horner seemed very alarmed regarding this situation and admitted that Red Bull could not compete with Mercedes in Instanbul. He commented that Mercedes’ straight-line speed has taken a significant step recently, Lewis Hamilton in particular had a significant straight-line advantage with a bigger rear wing.
What did Lewis Hamilton say about his team’s performance?
Despite praises from Horner, Lewis Hamilton has admitted that his team needs to work more in order to win the Championship. Hamilton failed to secure a podium in Turkey as there was a massive blunder between the team and Hamilton. Speaking about Mercedes’ pace improving, Lewis Hamilton claimed that “We haven’t done anything to the car so I don’t really know why that is the case.”
He further commented that the improved numbers are clearly due to the last two tracks suiting Mercedes and not because of the changes made by the team. He added: “I think the two tracks that we’ve just driven on have maybe suited us a little bit more.”
While Hamilton himself failed to secure a podium, teammate Bottas had a perfect weekend, talking about Bottas, the Englishman said “The car has been feeling good. It felt great this weekend and moving forwards, Valtteri did a great job. “If he can continue to perform like that over the next races, it will be good for the team and if the car continues to behave as it has this weekend, that is good for us.”
Will Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes be able to clinch victory in the United States Grand Prix or will Verstappen and Co. ruin their good run?
