NASCAR Cup Series will hit the tracks on Sunday for the Ally 400 which will be hosted by the Nashville Superspeedway. The 17th round cup racing will be vibrant for many reasons especially the return of the race from the mid-season break will see the constantly hardening fight between the drivers for the handful of playoff spots left and the tightening fight for the regular-season championship which will ensure bonus points in the playoff.
The Regular Season championship win will surely be a huge advantage for any driver that goes into the playoffs and as things stand now, HMS driver Chase Elliott, Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain, and JGR driver Kyle Busch and Penske Racing driver Joey Logano are the front runners for the win. Now the two times cup champion Kyle Busch has come forth acknowledging that a championship win before the play-off will be vital in his pursuit of a third Cup Championship win this season.

Kyle Busch acknowledged that it would be important to win the regular-season championship obviously due to the bonus playoff points that come your way. He added that by winning more races, getting bonus points from stage wins can easily give the drivers an easier playoff outing. He went on to say that though it is his goal he is at the same time is careful about it as going for more wins might lead to overextending yourself in races which will end will a wreck and point-less outing.
“I think that would be important. I mean, obviously the bonus points that come along with it. It’s the number one priority there. So, you want to win races, you want to get those bonus points, you want to win stages, get those bonus points, all of that to just allow yourself an easier time, let’s say through the Playoffs,” Kyle Busch said.
“So, you know, having that goal right there, you know, we’ve got to be careful with it because you can’t overextend yourself trying to race for a win — Gateway and get yourself crashed out in and not get points,” Kyle Busch added.
Kyle Busch went on to say that he believes the No:18 team is so close to it if not for the big opportunities he missed in races like COTA after finishing P33 following a crash while running P3. He added that in the last race weekend at Sonoma he had very horrible run which saw him having a low point finish. Kyle Busch went on to add that though they have thrown away some close opportunities this season so far, he is confident about getting the championship or a closer finish at the end of regular season.
“We are so close with it and I feel like, you look back at COTA, big missed opportunity running third on the last lap, finishing 33rd. You know, Sonoma, we just all completely missed it but ran horribly not getting very many points on that day. So, there are some definitely more opportunities than that too, that we’ve thrown away that I wish we had back and we’d be either the leader much close,” Kyle Busch explained.
