Jacob Fatu’s Injury Puts Roman Reigns Showdown at Clash in Italy in Jeopardy
Jacob Fatu suffered a legitimate back injury at a recent live event. WWE is still hopeful of his in-ring clearance for Roman Reigns match at Clash in Italy.

In some unfortunate news, Jacob Fatu got reportedly injured in a match against Solo Sikoa during a live event in Liverpool. Several fan videos revealed Fatu was limping while walking to the back, and it stirred genuine concern about the wrestler’s physical well-being just days before taking on Roman Reigns in Tribal Combat for the world title at Clash in Italy.
Cory Hays of False Finish noted WWE is under the impression that ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ will be good to go by Sunday. However, the company is also looking for a backup option should Fatu not get cleared in time. It would be a huge blow to him if that actually happened. He’s been on a roll since taking down Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania.

The Sacramento native stepped up to Reigns on Raw after WrestleMania and declared war against ‘The Tribal Chief’. Fatu even resorted to using the Tongan Death Grip, a submission hold made famous by Fatu’s uncle, Haku. It didn’t sit well with ‘The OTC’, who stated that the move wasn’t meant to be used against a family member, let alone against someone who’s the incumbent tribal chief of their clan.
Their first encounter at Backlash saw Roman Reigns survive Jacob Fatu in a dicey ending. The latter couldn’t digest the loss and went berserk on Reigns in the immediate aftermath. It took a number of WWE officials to quell an onslaught that had resulted in ‘The OTC’ foaming at his mouth.
‘The Samoan Werewolf’ then rejected acknowledging Reigns on the subsequent edition of Raw and instead took him out along with The Usos. The OG Bloodline trio then avenged their beatdown the following week, where Fatu called for a Tribal Combat against Reigns. The 7-time world champion had to accept it as an obligation of his hierarchy in the Samoan family tree.
They met on Raw this past Monday to sign the contract for Clash in Italy. ‘The OTC’ affirmed that there will be dire consequences this time around. The 41-year-old informed Jacob Fatu that he’ll have to serve Reigns should he lose in Turin. But the former Bloodline leader will have to pass on the tribal chiefdom to his cousin in case he succumbs to an upset.
Cody Rhodes makes his prediction for Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu at Clash in Italy
Cody Rhodes is backing Jacob Fatu to defeat Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship this weekend at Clash in Italy. ‘The American Nightmare’ made the prediction while appearing on ESPN‘s Get Up. He noted that the Tribal Combat stipulation, which he thought was a euphemism for a good old-fashioned street fight, would benefit someone like Jacob Fatu.

It’s worth noting that Rhodes had a mini feud with Fatu earlier this year. ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ was involved in the ending of the Three Stages of Hell match in January, where Rhodes lost the WWE title to Drew McIntyre. It resulted in ‘The QB1’ wanting to settle his differences with the former US Champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event. But their match never got underway officially.
Cody Rhodes was asked about the upcoming title bout between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu, noting that Fatu has the advantage due to Tribal Combat.

“Well, that’s a Tribal Combat match. which is another way of saying a good old-fashioned street fight, which I think behooves Jacob… pic.twitter.com/WSMTeayqqC
They kept brawling throughout the arena, ultimately ending with McIntyre taking out both men. Having said that, the former AEW EVP is no stranger to catching the wrath of Jacob Fatu. Rhodes is therefore betting on Fatu to pull off that huge result against Reigns in his favor. However, for that to happen, the former NWA Champion needs to be medically cleared first.
