Jared Verse is still anti-Seattle Seahawks to say the least. Even after the Los Angeles Rams traded him to the Cleveland Browns, the third-year edge wants his former team to seek revenge on the Seahawks the next time they meet on the gridiron.
The Rams drafted Verse, a Florida State alum, 19th overall in 2023. In 34 games, Verse registered 124 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, three passes defended, three forced fumbles, and 12 sacks. He won the defensive rookie of the season award in 2024 and a couple of Pro Bowl honors.
Verse quickly established himself as a key member of the Rams’ defense. Nevertheless, the front office decided to move in a different direction.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford is well into the twilight of his career, and future Hall of Fame receiver Davante Adams only has one more year left on his contract. To win the Super Bowl right now, the Rams required a seasoned veteran, leading them to trade for the reigning defensive player of the year, Myles Garrett.
In the trade, the Rams sent Verse and three draft picks to the Browns. As his parting message to the Rams, Verse wants them to defeat the Seahawks.
I told them the most important thing, ‘Make sure’ – and I’m not going to cuss – ‘Make sure you beat the Seahawks. That’s all I care about.

The rivalry runs so deep that even the Seahawks players quickly reacted to Verse’s comments. Veteran defensive lineman Leonard Williams found it amusing, while safety Nick Emmanwori compared it to a famous SpongeBob meme.
Jared Verse does not like the Seahawks
This isn’t the first time Verse has opened up about his disdain for the Seattle franchise. After being eliminated by the Seahawks in the NFC title game, he watched the Rams come out as winners in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

Shortly after, Verse went on Ryan Clark’s The Pivot Podcast, where he expressed his genuine feelings about the Seahawks.
They’re a division rival, all that good stuff. But, like, I genuinely don’t like them. l got, like, a disdain in my heart for them. Like, I hate them. I don’t like the Seahawks at all. There’s nothing I like about them. I don’t like their players. There’s nobody I like about their staff. I don’t like them.

The regular season fixture between these two teams ended in a stalemate (1-1). Currently, the Seahawks hold a 30-28 all-time record in this fixture.
Jared Verse makes a bold claim about the Browns
When the Browns qualified for the playoffs in 2023, many thought it was the start of a winning run. Unfortunately, they returned to the bottom of the AFC North in the very next campaign.
Through all this, the Browns’ defense remained revered with Garrett leading the line. Now that he’s gone, fans and coaches are turning toward his successor, Verse, to assume the role. It won’t be easy, but Verse is confident the Browns will be a better side in 2026.
In the NFL, the margin for error is so small. You can be two steps outside of a tackle, and he might take you for 40 yards, and now you’re down 7 versus you’re two steps closer, you make that play. That’s exactly what this football team was last year. Just a small difference between good and great was making those plays. We were making those plays. My impression was this isn’t going to be a 5-12 team. It’s going to be a lot different, just by the way people are practicing and executing.

The Browns remain in limbo regarding who will be their starting quarterback. Shedeur Sanders has the fans in his career, while Deshaun Watson boasts the experience required to succeed at this level. Unless they get the quarterback selection correct, the Browns could slip back into their old shell once again.
