John Cena hung up his wrestling boots last December to cap off one of the greatest careers in WWE history. He had since stated in interviews that he wouldn’t even take a physical bump in the ring, let alone wrestle again. However, what if someone offers him a ridiculous amount of money to come out of retirement?
The Cenation Leader’s latest chat with US Weekly has got everyone talking, as Cena told the outlet that it’s going to be a financial disaster for someone to court him in a position where he’d be ready to have another match. “So if you’re in the business of torching currency, that’s the only way to get me back in the ring,” said the 17-time world champion.
John Cena says it would be financial suicide to bring him back for one more match.

Cena’s latest stance on wrestling again is a complete turnaround from him previously remaining steadfast on staying retired. It has triggered speculation among the fans that the Saudi Arabian authorities might view it as a golden opportunity to orchestrate The Franchise Player’s borderline impossible return to the squared circle.
The GEA of Saudi Arabia was already preparing to make an unprecedented offer to secure The Rock to compete at WrestleMania 43. Circling back to John Cena‘s comments in the aforementioned interview, he said the fans still craving to see him bodes well for his brainchild, The John Cena Classic.
While the said concept was unveiled by Cena himself at WWE Backlash in May, a number of key details are still under wraps. The Massachusetts-born wrestling icon cannot wait for this to get a date and the host city for its debut show. ‘The Prototype’ will be there in person and has expressed how relaxed he’s feeling knowing he’s not an active wrestler anymore.
Cena seemed over the moon about the prospect of seeing other WWE Superstars vie it out to become the champion of the John Cena classic, the winner of which will be crowned via fan voting. How regulated the latter aspect of the event actually turns out is where everyone’s eyes are peeled. The Cena brainchild is a way for him to stay involved in the wrestling business while allowing others to benefit from it at the same time.
John Cena expands on how his concept is progressing on the backend
A short while ago, it was reported that the word making within WWE circles coming out of a recent town hall meeting was that the John Cena classic might be positioned at the end of the year. It would be fitting to do the event in mid-December to mark the anniversary of Cena’s last WWE match.

The man behind this concept expanded on the current status of it in the aforementioned US Weekly chat. Cena said it’s still a work in progress. He wants to see a night of exhibition matches, which would ideally see main roster WWE stars taking on the best that NXT has to offer. The Peacemaker star labeled the John Cena classic as WWE’s All-Star Game.

‘Mr. Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect’ asserted that he’d love to make more trips to Raw, SmackDown, and NXT to personally inform the talent about their participation in his invitational. ‘The Cenation Leader’ also appeared excited about the reveal of a brand-new championship and even called for the reveal of the match card beforehand so that the fans know what they’re in for.
But the most important aspect about this entire concept is the fan voting mechanism. Cena was totally aware of the possibility of it getting sabotaged and hijacked by several burner accounts and bots on the internet. The 49-year-old stressed about ensuring fair participation from the fans. Because that’s what turned him into the sensation he’s today.
Cena talked about how he was on the verge of being fired by WWE but got a second chance to prove himself. It started in the trenches, and he had to win over one fan at a time. That’s what he wants for those who’ll end up competing in the John Cena classic. “This is a night where you can put down your business card and say you’re going to remember this name,” said Cena.
