Matt Fitzpatrick‘s hot form continued this week as he claimed his 2nd straight win. On Sunday, he clinched an emotional victory alongside his brother, Alex Fitzpatrick, as the pair won the Zurich Classic.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the only official PGA Tour event that is played in a team format. For this event, Matt would turn towards his brother and team up with him once again.

The duo had a strong showing on Saturday as they posted a low score of 57. The Englishmen were 30-under par and built up a 4-shot lead heading into the finale on Sunday.

The victory, however, was not a straightforward one and had several stakes on the line. On the alternate-shot play Sunday, the duo lost their 4-shot lead as the chasers got hot.

The brothers were facing a strong challenge from the teams of Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer, and Norwegians Kristoffer Reitan and Kris Ventura. All 4 of these players were chasing their first victory on the PGA Tour.

The Fitzpatricks arrived on the final hole tied for the lead. After an impressive tee shot from Matt, the second shot from Alex found the bunker on the par-5 hole.

Matt Fitzpatrick, who has been in red-hot form this year, left the fans at TPC Louisiana in a frenzy following his recovery shot from the bunker. The ball bounced inches away from the hole, leaving his younger brother with an easy putt to clinch his 1st win on the PGA Tour.

This marked Matt’s 2nd successive win, having won the RBC Heritage last week against Scottie Scheffler. The World No.3 has now won 3 times this year, as he even took the title at the Valspar Championship in March.

This triumph made the duo the 13th set of brothers to each have a win on the PGA Tour. This was the 9th edition of the Zurich Classic since it became a team event. The Fitzpatricks are thus the first set of brothers to emerge victorious in this tournament. They both also earned a winning cheque of $1.37 million.

Alex Fitzpatrick earns PGA Tour card until 2028 after triumph with brother Matt Fitzpatrick

It was a big day for the Fitzpatrick family on Sunday as Alex Fitzpatrick and his brother Matt Fitzpatrick won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. With this win, the younger Fitzpatrick earned a PGA Tour card until the 2028 season.

Up until this point, the 27-year-old had never tasted victory on the PGA Tour. Meanwhile, his brother had been on a roll on the tour, winning 3 times and having a runner-up finish alone this year.

Alex thus entered this tournament through a sponsor exemption. With this win, he has earned a PGA Tour card until the 2028 season and has gained entries in some signature events and the 2026 PGA Championship.

The younger brother did have success this year. He claimed his first individual victory on the DP World Tour as he won the Hero Indian Open at DLF Golf and Country Club, finishing 2 strokes ahead of Eugenio Chacarra.

The two brothers will now tee up at the Cadillac Championship at the famed Blue Monster at Trump National Doral this week. This will be the 5th signature event of the 2026 PGA Tour season and will be followed by the Truist Championship, another signature event next week.
