In Short
  • Max Kellerman criticizes the media for exploiting the personal lives of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini for profit.
  • Dianna Russini has resigned from her position at The Athletic amid the scandal, while Mike Vrabel faces increasing pressure to take accountability.
  • Experts believe the media will continue to pursue the story, as it generates significant interest and profit.

Even though Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel would like to pick up the pieces and try to move on with their lives, the media are not helping them do that. More and more pictures and videos keep popping up every other day.

It has been quite the whirlwind for both the New England Patriots head coach and the now-former New York Times journalist. The latter has quit her job as The Athletic’s lead NFL insider, while calls grow for the former to do the same.

It has been reported that Vrabel has shown remorse that his former mistress had to resign from her position to protect her family. But he has shown no indication so far that he wants to do the same.

If he does, the 50-year-old knows that he may not get another job in the NFL, much like Russini. That is why Max Kellerman believes that the media are trying to create narratives for their profit.

They (media) are using that as an excuse to be titillated by an affair. It is so disgusting to me… The press is trying to create a timeline. Without regard to how this affects their spouses, their children, they are putting these families through hell under the guise of journalistic integrity. In fact, that is just an excuse to put out salacious stuff.

Max Kellerman said on Game Over Podcast

The former ESPN analyst has worked with Dianna Russini at the network and pointed out how the media had no shame in trying to destroy her and Mike Vrabel’s lives. Kellerman believes that this is just the media doing what they want with no regard for integrity.

Crisis manager believes Mike Vrabel not owning up made matters worse

None of the media houses are going to bother listening to Max Kellerman. They are not going to let go off the profits they will incur while keeping this story alive for as long as it makes sense.

For Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini, the situation is only going to get worse as more and more evidence comes out. The latter is already out of a job and will not get another, at least for a while. The former is on the edge and could tip over if things continue.

Mike Vrabel has been dodging this for weeks. This is what you get, a story that has legs… I don’t think he is going to last. Because the first time the Patriots go sideways, they are going to blame players, or (Robert) Kraft, it’s Vrabel.

Molly McPherson said on TikTok

This was renowned crisis communications expert Molly McPherson, who believes that Vrabel should have taken accountability when the New York Post exposed this scandal the first time.

Now, his actions have thrown Russini under the bus. Since she has moved out of the spotlight, the three-time Super Bowl-winning linebacker is now firmly in the line of fire. One dip in performance, and the barbarians will be at the gates.

Journalist does not believe Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini scandal will stop anytime soon

Molly McPherson also stated that Mike Vrabel might be hoping that silence on the topic would help it die down over time. Not only her, but even longtime journalist Jim Rome does not believe that will happen.

The problem for Kraft is that it’s not going away… In fact, it’s not even dying down, and it’s already been a month… Not only did the public disagree that the photos didn’t deserve any further response, they are refusing to move on from this entire topic.

Jim Rome said on his namesake show

The 61-year-old made it clear that for the media, this scandal is a gold mine. Every time they get their hands on some proof, they get some more gold in their hands. That is why this is not going to stop anytime soon. Expect the media to keep hunting for more proof.
