- Mike Vrabel acknowledged his relationship with Dianna Russini after leaked photographs surfaced.
- The New England Patriots expressed support for Vrabel's focus on family and personal well-being.
- Dianna Russini resigned following an investigation into her actions related to the relationship.
Up until a day ago, New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was beating around the bush regarding his relationship with The Athletic’s former lead NFL insider Dianna Russini.
The two sets of leaked photographs, obtained by Page Six and a news aggregator, pointed to them meeting alone at a hotel in Sedona, Arizona, and at a pub during the NFL Combine.
The second photograph prompted The New York Times, The Athletic’s parent organization, to initiate an investigation into Russini’s actions, which eventually led to her resignation.
As soon as she quit, many felt that it was acceptance on her part that she was indeed involved in an inappropriate relationship with Vrabel.
But the latter did not say anything explicit to that nature, and was even reported to be entering counseling during the NFL Draft.
I take accountability for my actions. The actions that caused a distraction to the people that I care most about, my family, this football team, the organization, and our fans. My previous actions don’t meet the standard that I hold myself to… My family needs me this weekend, and that’s where I’ll be.
Mike Vrabel said before the NFL Draft
The 50-year-old essentially owned up to his relationship with Dianna Russini, weeks after suggesting that the first set of pictures was inconclusive of his friendship and that the narratives were laughable.

This change in his stance was surprising, considering that just a couple of days earlier, he spent more than two minutes talking about things that matter to him without diving into the allegations.
Evidence piles up against Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini
It so happens that there is solid, or rather two instances of damning evidence that appeared in the hours after Mike Vrabel‘s last press conference.

Page Six and TMZ got their hands on a fresh set of photographs. The latter shows one where the Patriots’ head coach and Dianna Russini were having a good time at a casino, weeks after the Tennessee Titans fired him from his job.

Even though top attorneys can contradict those photos as something that close friends would do, the ones obtained by Page Six were the final nail in the coffin.

Photos show the two cozying up and having an intimate moment in a bar. What was staggering about these photos was that they were from six years ago. That was before Russini married Shake Shack executive Kevin Goldschmidt.
It seems these fresh sets of photos forced Vrabel to finally admit to his actions. On the other hand, Russini has deleted her social media profiles, further adding fuel to the rumors that have been floating since these photos emerged.
Patriots stand by Mike Vrabel
Now that Russini has decided to stay away from the spotlight, many would wonder if Vrabel would do the same. But it seems the New England Patriots are going to support their head coach.
The New England Patriots fully support Mike Vrabel’s decision to prioritize his family first, as well as his own well-being. Mike has been open with us about his commitment to being the best version of himself for his family, this team, and our fans, and we respect the steps he is taking to follow through on that commitment.
Patriots’ statement, as quoted by Adam Schefter
This statement came after both the Page Six and TMZ photos were published, which means that the organization is fully committed to someone who once helped them win three Super Bowls as a linebacker.

Since the NFL has also decided not to review this situation, it is unlikely that Vrabel will lose anything but face. In comparison, Russini has lost a lot more, and she will probably be out of the spotlight for quite a while.
