The 2024 NASCAR season so far has been hit-and-miss for Christopher Bell. He is still a strong contender for the championship, but the odds aren’t fully in his favor due to the bad luck that hurt his chances in the last two season finales, and his inability to convert dominant performances to win consistently.

Christopher Bell went through a similar experience in the first race of playoff R-12 at Kansas, he had a solid car such as the likes of Ross Chastain and Kyle Busch. But couldn’t take the final step that could land him the win. Ex-racer Kyle Petty has come forward to give his opinion on the same.

He pointed out that Bell is more like Kyle Larson in his initial years and Hall of Famer Kasey Kahne. Both of them were infamous for their inability to seal the deal and secure the victory, with bad mistakes plaguing their runs.

Christopher Bell at this stage in his career, even though he’s won races, reminds me a little bit of Kasey Kahne and Kyle Larson. He can’t close the deal. He can run up front, he can lead the laps. He’s gotta learn to close these deals and maximize these days, not just leave here with these points.

Christopher Bell admits mistakes cost him the race win

In his post-race interview, Bell admitted that his No:20 Toyota team gave him a really good car, and it was capable of securing the race win. But the mistake made from his side on the last laps of the race cost him track position and a better finish.

They brought the heat, that’s for sure. I don’t know. Just obviously wish I had a couple of corners back because there were a couple of them where I made mistakes and let a lot of track position go. Yeah, to come back and finish seventh after getting mired back in the back is something that is good but definitely left what could’ve been.

There are six more races left in the season and Bell should approach one race at a time, try to do what he does best, dominating races. If he is able to do is consistently, the championship is his to take, as he will be getting solid cars from JGR.
