Denny Hamlin’s beef with Ross Chastain has divided the NASCAR garage alongside the NASCAR nation. Fans, pundits, and drivers give multiple opinions while weighing in on the issue. Few were quick to come in support of Hamlin and slammed the sanctioning body for penalizing, At the same time, another portion of the racing community felt Hamlin was playing a soph opera for the limelight.
Chastain’s teammate, Trackhouse Racing’s No:99 Chevy driver Daniel Suarez expressed his opinion on the issue ahead of the Atlanta Motor Speedway Cup race. The Mexican joined the Hamlin critics and claimed that the sole purpose of the Joe Gibbs Racing veteran was to gain some media attention and had nothing g do with persuading NASCAR to make changes.
“If I only see the race, it’s more like a racing contact. There wasn’t anything super intentional, in my opinion… said what he said, asking for trouble…made a decision…He made a decision to look cool in the media, and that’s what he gets,” said Daniel Suarez.
Suarez was one of the unluckiest drivers in the 2022 season. His progress into championship 4 was influenced by multiple incidents where he was among the cars collected in racing incidents. His rage doubles as he and Chastain miss the opportunity to push each other to the top when the No:1 Chevy is busy fending off No:11 Toyota.

Daniel Suarez is excited to race in Atlanta
The 2023 season marked the first time Daniel Suarez didn’t have to worry about not having a seat next year in his Cup career. He has recently signed a multiyear contract extension and hopes to produce more solid runs for the teams. With the increased confidence, Suarez wants to better his output in the coming races, and Atlanta is one on the list where he hopes to have a solid, yet fun run.
“Of course. Atlanta is an interesting race track. It’s almost like it can’t decide what it wants to be. It’s a 1.5-mile track that races like Talladega and Daytona. We have had some good results there since the reconfiguration. I think the key is survival, and hopefully, we can do that and get another good finish,” Suarez said.
“We have run well. The cars and pit stops are fast, and we are learning. We have things we have to get better at and clean up, but we are making progress. I think we are going to have a lot of fun this season if we keep doing what we are doing,” Suarez added.
