If you are wearing the number 1, be the top man and the Trackhouse Racing’s No:1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver Ross Chastain has so far been that in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series. ‘The Watermelon man’ has driven the young NASCAR outfit to the top this year driving alongside teammate Daniel Suarez.
Ross Chastain is the only multi-race winner in Next-Gen car other than Hendrick Motorsport Driver William Byron and sits at P6 in the championship table. He will hit the Darlington raceway this Sunday for the Goodyear 400 hoping to continue his winning form and will be hoping to convert his P3 finish in Dover to a win in the throwback weekend.
Ross Chastain has now come forth acknowledging how hard he expects it is going to be to drive the Next-Gen car in Darlington and his hopes for the race.

Ross Chastain acknowledged that he has been sleepless the whole week due to the fact that the volatility of the Next-Gen car might make it hard to race in Darlington Raceway in the throwback week. He went on to see that he might not be going for track records in Darlington instead will be hoping to just drive at pace.
“It has kept me up this week thinking about that because I mean this Gen 7 car the Cup car right now is just so volatile to drive. Especially the first few laps of practice. I don’t expect Darlington to be easy. I am fully prepared and fully expecting to truly be driving at a pace that I can make laps. I’m not going to set the track record,” Ross Chastain said.
Ross Chastain explained that he expects to roll himself out in the practice at the entrance to turn 3 or in the new patches at Uphill and downhill and acknowledged that it is intimidating for him. He pointed out to him rolling out in his No:41 Truck which he drove in at the Darlington Truck Series qualifiers outing hoping to have some extra miles of practice before Sunday’s race.
“Cutting across the apron, entering in Turn 3 and getting loose or getting loose up the hill in 1 and down the hill in the new patch in two, this place is intimidating for me. I will roll out in practice; I mean I rolled out in the truck just now in the No. 41 Worldwide Express truck fully committed as fast as I could go and that is not the case for the Cup car,” Ross Chastain added.
