Tyler Reddick’s luck secured him a win at the chaotic Texas Playoff Race
Tyler Reddick wins at Texas
Tyler Reddick won the first round of 12 races at Texas. The win came a week late for the RCR driver as he was eliminated from the Championship chase last Sunday at Bristol. This was the third cup race win for the Chevy driver this season as well as his cup career.
The Texas playoff race was a literal shit show. The race witnessed 17 different cautions and a delay. The poor quality of Goodyear tires meant taking out most of the race leaders. It paved an easy way for the Richard Childress Racing Camaro ZL1 to climb to the victory lane.
The tire failure took out the race leaders, one by one. Championship contender Chase Elliott and former champions Kevin Harvick were among the drivers to succumb. Reddick was lucky that his car didn’t fail him in the last 50 laps he led to win the race.
What Tyler Reddick had to say about his Texas win
Tyler Reddick said that he was very worried towards the end of the race about his tires. He pointed out that they had trouble in the past whenever they had the fastest car. Reddick also added that he had some tire problems in the last laps. The No:8 car’s left side was vibrating hard.
“I was extremely worried, I’m not going to lie. Unfortunately, just about every time we’ve had fast cars, we’ve had some tire problems and that last run, the left sides were vibrating really, really hard,” Tyler Redick said.
Tyler Reddick said that he was trying to maximize the gap he built between him and Logano. He said, “I was just trying to maximize and just use the advantage, the gap that I’d built over Joey, just in case. Every time we’ve had a strong car, we’ve been bit by something, man,”.
Reddick claimed that they had the fastest car and his team deserved the win. He said “Just really proud to be able to get this Chevy to victory lane. At Auto Club [Speedway] earlier this year, we were so fast with this car and they deserve to get to victory lane, and we got them there,”.
