Luka Doncic and the Mavericks talking trash to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green

Luka Doncic has been storming the league this season with his scoring and playmaking genius. He played like the wound of a 4-1 loss against the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals last year was fresh on him. Tuesday night, against the Warriors, the Slovenian guard was everywhere leaving his mark on the game. He scored 41 points, dropped 12 dimes, and secured 12 rebounds in just 39 minutes of the game.

Doncic was +22 in plus/minus in the game. Though the 3x NBA All-Star did struggle in the late 2nd quarter, he came made a strong comeback in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Luka finished the game making 14 of 27 from the field and shooting 4 of 9 three-point shots from down town. The Mavericks have added Kemba Walker which would hopefully improve their record further while giving them an alternative ball handler.

The Warriors were trailing by 113-115 when Curry brought the ball down the court, with a screen from Draymond Green over Dorian Finney Smith, Curry made a cut to the left. He faked Maxi Kleber defending him but moved his pivot foot and was called for traveling. Curry not only traveled on the play but also air-balled the shot.

Curry was slammed by the fans on Twitter for traveling when he was supposed to close the game for the Warriors. Although some fans were clearly confused by the travel call by the refs, many called Steph out for his bad play on the shot clock. Alluding to the 2016 finals when he was defended by Kevin Love, one of the fans wrote, “he was having flashbacks“, and another fan called out Steph for air balling on the play. He wrote, “Doesn’t matter he airballed lol.” Here are some reactions from the fans;

Stephen Curry accepted his mistake and admitted that he did not know what the time and score were as he lost track of everything in that play. “Bang, bang situation,” Curry said. “Dumb play by me to not take the layup. I got a little confused on what the time and score was. Going for the hero shot.” But Curry also didn’t think the travel call on him was a wrong call. “I didn’t think it was a travel to the point where let the play run out. But who am I to say?” Curry said.
