Antonio Brown, the man, never ceases to amaze. The former NFL wideout was on track to become the greatest wide receiver the league had ever seen since the likes of Jerry Rice. However, fate had other plans for him. Antonio Brown had a tough time as a Pittsburgh Steeler despite having been drafted and groomed by Head Coach Mike Tomlin. The relationship between the team members ended up going south. His woes started when he left Pittsburgh as he never really got along with any team after that point.

Brown played for the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers upon Tom Brady‘s request. He did sign a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders but never stepped onto the field for a single game. He ended up ruining his odds as he could not keep his words under control. AB wanted to do things his way and expected the NFL to bear with his shenanigans.

Clearly, that did not pan out the way he had anticipated. Moving forward, scouts and executives across the NFL refrained from associating with Antonio Brown. Despite his immense talent, dedicated work ethic, and brilliant football IQ, it was his off-the-field issues that they did not want to deal with. Recently, AB has become a rapper and a businessman, and football is no longer a career for him. However, during his NFL career, there was one play following which the wideout was never the same from a mental standpoint.

The one play that fans can easily recall would be the Steelers Vs Bengals game where Antonio Brown got steamrolled by defensive back Vontaze Burfict. AB lay on the field for a long time and it was after this play that his struggles off the field began. Recently, he went live on his Instagram and for the first time owned up to the fact that he does have CTE. From his tone, it was pretty hard to state if he was being serious or sarcastic however; he did have a person to blame for his mental health issues.

Antonio Brown shifted the blame upon former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate James Harrison and called him out. “I want to tell you guys that I think James Harrison gave me CTE. James Harrison had an illegal helmet for over 20 years in the NFL and he hit me one time. Ever since he hit me, I’ve been super aggressive, so blame James Harrison for my CTE.”

While the two did go at it during practice, it was a bit surprising to hear AB call out James Harrison. He has not called him out all these years and decided to do so now for some reason. He accused the former OLB of playing in the league with an illegal helmet for 20 years. The NFL is pretty stringent when it comes to helmets, so it does sound unreal that a player was able to flout the league’s rules openly for that long a duration.

While the speculation is large that AB does have CTE due to his erratic behavioral patterns, it is hard to diagnose any individual with it until after they have passed away and their brain is studied in depth. With AB, there is a strong chance that he may have CTE, but fans and well-wishers all hope for just one thing, that he seeks help and attempts to better himself.
