Patrick Mahomes doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes the Kansas City Chiefs made last year while signing the wide receivers. Not that signing Marquise Brown wasn’t a step closer to their three-peat, but Mahomes believes in not relying on such word of mouth.

With everything happening with wide receiver Rashee Rice, the Chiefs can hardly rely on him for the next season. Therefore, the star quarterback has already begun putting in work to train the newly-signed Brown to build a connection with him, early in the season. There has been a long time before the 2024 regular season begins, but the three-time Super Bowl champion has already started sharpening his weapons for a dominating NFL season.

Hollywood” Brown has been welcomed by the Chiefs with open arms, especially the elite quarterback who was particularly excited about his addition to the reigning Super Bowl champions’ roster. The receiver has a consistent winning record since his rookie year with the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 – making him an explosive playmaker.

Even though Kansas City won the Super Bowl last season, they featured one of the weakest receiving squads in the league and since they are aiming for the three-peat to make history, they desperately needed a player like Brown.

Chiefs’ strategic quarterback move for a potential three-peat

In addition to star receivers such as Brown, the Chiefs have also signed former Super Bowl champion Carson Wentz on a one-year contract to be the backup to Mahomes, as reported by NFL Insider Jordan Schultz. This offseason move has particularly made the sports analyst and Chiefs fanatic Nick Wright very happy.

As he believes, one team that could hinder the Chiefs’ three-peat aim is the Philadelphia Eagles. But having Wentz, who has previously been with the Eagles, puts the reigning Super Bowl champion at an advantage.

The reason is Wentz’s skill to do a quarterback sneak, which Mahomes lacks significantly. In his NFL career, he has successfully attempted a quarterback sneak 47 out of 53 times, which boasted his conversion rate of 88.7 percent.
