Mikaela Shiffrin commented following the race, “It’s pretty hard to comprehend,” said Shiffrin. “My brother and sister-in-law are here and I didn’t know they were coming. That makes it so special.”

“The best feeling is to ski on the second run because you have a lead and you have to be smart. I just wanted to be fast too and ski the second run like its own race. I did it exactly how I wanted and that’s amazing.

“To the whole team and all the people who have helped me this whole season and whole career, all these people reaching out now after all these years, it’s pretty incredible. I just want to say thank you for that.”

Ingemar during an interview praised the young skier stating, “She’s much better than I was…I could never have been so good in all disciplines”. “She’s so strong that she doesn’t need to be at 100% to win a race. She’s very good at managing her talent,” Ingemar commented according to Olympics.com.

“She’s a fantastic skier and she doesn’t remind me of anyone from the past because she’s writing her own new beautiful story”. “Four years ago I predicted Mikaela would win 100 races and you can tell I was right.” “I don’t know her personally, but she has a beautiful smile and seems a nice person. She deserves all my admiration”.
