Seth Rollins finally came face-to-face with Roman Reigns on this week’s Raw. ‘The Visionary’ explained to his former Shield brother that they were running out of time to wrestle each other with the next generation of superstars knocking at their door to supersede them.
‘The Architect’ also reminded Reigns that he didn’t once beat Rollins during those 1316 days for which he remained a world champion in WWE. Having said that, Rollins was willing to give Reigns an opportunity to check that box if he could, and it would, in turn, give Rollins a chance to regain the world heavyweight title that he never lost and had to relinquish last year due to a shoulder injury.
The aforementioned segment between Reigns and Rollins was reviewed by Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray on the Busted Open Radio podcast. The wrestling pundits called it the best mic work of The Visionary’s entire WWE career. Ray said his eyes were peeled on his television set, and he knew in that moment that the version of Rollins dropping truth bombs on Reigns was exactly what he had been wanting to see for years.
Was what we saw from @WWERollins on #wweraw his best promo ever?https://t.co/dDUzxYGezy#bustedopen247 pic.twitter.com/K7erF4LZSl

The former one-half of the Dudley Boyz appreciated the depth in Rollins’ voice as all that time he was looking the World Heavyweight Champion dead in the eye. Ray also felt that the no-nonsense attire of Seth Rollins draped in black from head to toe added so much to his promo. The WWE Hall of Famer said that Rollins spoke with conviction and kept it concise.
The WWE Universe reacted mostly with positive reviews about Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins doing their dance, and this could actually be their last one together. Many thought that the line from Rollins where he mentioned that both of them were closer to the end of their careers than they were 14 years ago hit right in the feels.
Roman Reigns admitted during the dying minutes of this week’s Raw that he indeed needed to beat ‘The Architect’. WWE later released an amplified version of what Reigns was muttering after exiting the ring. ‘The OTC’ said that Rollins was giving him the opportunity to close the door on him and the Shield forever.

It’s something that ‘The Tribal Chief’ would definitely want to get over and bury the ghosts of someone who claims the responsibility of Reigns becoming the monster that he eventually did—Seth Rollins. The fact that Reigns couldn’t let go of Rollins betraying him by putting a steel chair across his back in 2014 came to haunt him a decade later at WrestleMania 40.
At the event, ‘The Head of the Table’ famously lost the world title to Cody Rhodes. It couldn’t have happened without Rollins sacrificing himself in the process. A vindictive Reigns fell into the trap that Seth had laid out for him, and it resulted in Rhodes taking advantage of the distraction to finish his story.
Roman Reigns unlikely to lose the world title to Seth Rollins at SummerSlam
The upcoming showdown pitting Roman Reigns against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam will undoubtedly headline the second night of the ‘Biggest Party of the Summer’. For the record, ‘The OTC’ has yet to lose a singles match at SummerSlam. That means Rollins has the golden opportunity to not only win back the world heavyweight title but also put a dent in The OTC’s undefeated streak at the said event.

Reigns and Rollins have had ten televised singles matches in WWE up until this point. While four of them ended in disqualification, a couple of them resulted in count-outs. Out of the four matches that did fetch clean results, ‘The Tribal Chief’ and ‘The Visionary’ are two wins apiece.

Considering this year’s SummerSlam might actually end up being their last one-on-one match, the deadlock is expected to be broken. The story calls for the Anoa’i family stalwart to finally put an end to his Seth Rollins misery. WWE doesn’t have any immediate plans for Reigns to lose the world title, which basically guarantees that he wouldn’t drop the belt to Rollins next month.
The company is likely lining Reigns up for a future showdown with Oba Femi, who, for now, has forgone his world title shot at SummerSlam. Femi was expected to go after Reigns’ title after becoming the 2026 King of the Ring. However, a Brock Lesnar return on Raw paved the way for their trilogy-settling showdown inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.
