As McEnroe said: “Tsitsipas has options and could make life difficult for him in the final, but Novak will always be the favorite. We continue to see surprises in this edition and I wouldn’t be surprised if an underdog ended up winning the tournament. This is the most balanced Grand Slam I can remember in years. It’s the Grand Slam of surprises“.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has never defeated Novak Djokovic since 2019

Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas

As McEnroe mentioned, the odds are in favor of the Serbian. Stefanos Tsitsipas will have to do a mammoth task to make at least this contest a tight one. He has not beaten Djokovic in their last 9 meetings after winning 2 of their first 3 matches. Head to Head stands at 10-2 in favor of the Serbian. Even if the Greek is able to start the match well, he will have to get off the demons of the French Open 2021 final where Djokovic came back from 2 sets down to beat the Greek. The final score of that final was: 6-7(6-8), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in favor of Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic is Playing his 10th final here and is yet to lose a final or semi-final match in Melbourne Park. His first final here was in 2008 when he defeated Jo Wilfried Tsonga in 4 sets. Like the case of this Sunday for Stefanos Tsitsipas, it was at that time the first Australian Open final for both Djokovic and Tsonga.

After the deportation saga that made the Serbian leave Australia in tears last year, Getting back the crown the very next year will be so huge for the already illustrious career of Novak Djokovic and his fans.
