Five-time Grand Slam title champion Maria Sharapova went to the Monaco Formula One paddock to display enthusiastic support for her good friend Lewis Hamilton. She picked Lewis Hamilton over the actual race winner and, in the best form of his life, Max Verstappen, to show her solidarity for her great friend. She is not just a friend but also a great fan of the British Formula One driver.

Maria Sharapova and Lewis Hamilton first crossed paths in 2015 during the Laureus World Sports Awards and have been close ever since. Sharapova, a former World No. 1, and Hamilton, a six-time Formula 1 World Champion, instantly recognized each other’s dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence. At the Monaco Grand Prix, the interviewer asked who Sharapova was rooting for. Sharapova responded, I’ve been a huge admirer and a friend of Lewis Hamilton, so I’m hoping he’s able to pull through.” Hamilton started in 5th place in the Monaco race.

Despite Maria Sharapova cheering on Lewis Hamilton, he finished a frustrating 4th. He had all the pace to overtake Alpine’s Esteban Ocon in the third lap. But due to the trickiness of the track, he couldn’t do it. He had crashed in the practice round at the Monaco Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion lost control of his revamped Mercedes and ended up in the wall.

Maria Sharapova found herself completely intertwined in Formula One as she is an ardent fan. Sharapova was accompanied by her fiancé, Alexander Gilkes, and struck by the adrenaline rush of Formula 1. After the practice race on Saturday, Sharapova presented Red Bull’s Max Verstappen with the Pirelli Pole Position award at the Monaco Grand Prix.
