Ubisoft launches an investigation after players report Far Cry 6 PS5 upgrade issue

Far Cry 6 PS5 upgrade issue: Far Cry 6 players on Play station are having problems with the upgrade process from PS4 to PS5. The game has been released recently and it has been a week since the game got released. Players on PC players are also having some crash problems, but it isn’t something need to be worried about. As the game is newly launched, players can expect them to be fixed very soon.

Far Cry 6 is the latest instalment in the Far Cry series and the game has grabbed a lot of attention because of its high graphic details and story especially featuring Giancarlo Esposito, who is the kickass character in the Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul web series. It was released for Windows, Xbox and Play Station platforms recently on October 7, 2021. A player in UK country has reported some issues he is facing with the game in up gradation process from PS4 to PS5.

The player had reported the issue that he is unable to upgrade the game from PS4 to PS5 version because of being region locked to another country.  As per a report from Euro Gamer, the issue because of being the game operating from the UK versions of Far Cry actually being Russian versions of the game – which means that those using UK based PlayStation Network Accounts are not able to upgrade the game from PS4 to PS5. Unisoft has responded to the issue and says that they were aware of the issue. They have also added that they are investing it and will soon release an update regarding the context.

The statement reads:

"The team is aware of reports that some players are unable to upgrade their PlayStation 4 version of Far Cry 6 to the PlayStation 5 version, we are investigating the issue and will provide an update ASAP."

This issue was found by a Person on Twitter @sjpearson85, who uploaded a video of themself trying to get the free PS5 upgrade for Far Cry 6 on their PS5 through the PS4 disc copy. As the clip indicates, using a UK Playstation network account, there really is no option for all of this, however, when switching to a Russian PSN acct, the upgrade option appears accessible.

Though it also appears to be a simple remedy, as the Person on Twitter reminds out, swapping countries on the PS5 will result in the loss of all Far Cry 6 progression and also access to any Content linked to the PSN account. That means you’d have had to start fresh only to upgrade to PS5.
