Conor McGregor is the biggest star in the sport, and fans should definitely cherish watching the Irishman in action – as is the nature of careers in this sport, they can be extremely short-lived after injuries.

McGregor sustained his nastiest injury to date when he snapped his shin bone in half against perennial lightweight contender Dustin Poirier. Since then, it has looked like “The Notorious” has been living it up in style, partying and posting pictures from his adventures. However, that is not to say that he has given up training altogether.

Conor McGregor has often posted his workout sessions, including his post-workout “swole” pictures. And, across all those photos, McGregor definitely looks to have put on a heap of muscle. With the extended period out of the sport, a leg that needs healing and a movie to be filmed, the MMA community has been unanimous in designating some sort of steroid usage to McGregor.

However, now, former UFC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen has come out with guns ablaze in support of the Irishman, saying, “Conor’s clean. He’s been trolling, he’s been having fun with people. Come on. A guy doesn’t go out and do a crime and then document the crime. Conor put the pictures out. He’s having fun with people. He’s clean.

A major factor for people to vehemently accuse the former double champion of abusing steroids is his lengthy absence from USADA’s testing pool for UFC fighters – it has now been more than one and a half years since he was last tested, which signals something fishy going on.

Chael Sonnen, however, is of a different mind here. He said, “I believe that he’s creating conversation. I know that every word that he said is to insinuate that he’s avoiding the pool for scandalous reasons. Just to give you an example, Conor spoke five days ago and said, ‘I’ll be ready to enter the pool in February.’ What do you mean you’ll be ready? He knew what he was doing. He wanted that put out there.
