Joe Rogan was shook when he was told the reason behind Max Holloway‘s striking skills. When Holloway realized he was too bad at striking, he learned striking by emulating what he did in the game with Renan Barao and Jose Aldo.
Holloway is known for his striking skills in the modern-day UFC, but that wasn’t always the case. His striking skills were very poor, which he realized when he fought Dustin Poirier. So he thought he had to do something about it.
But unlike any normal fighter, he didn’t train and train to improve his striking skills, rather he emulated what he did in the UFC game with Renan Barao and Jose Aldo. Rogan couldn’t believe what he had heard, he couldn’t digest the fact that striking could be learned from the video game as well.
Well, whatever the means, he is considered the best boxer in the UFC, if not for the game. If it hadn’t been for the game, then the fans wouldn’t have been able to see Max Holloway’s final form in boxing; and it proves you can be taught by anything.

Jose Aldo was the character that Max Holloway chose in the UFC game to learn striking and in the end, even went on to beat the man whom he emulated in the game. Destiny works in weird ways since Holloway got to beat his master in striking – “kinda” master.
At UFC 212, the main event was a featherweight title match between Max Holloway and Jose Aldo. Holloway, who’d learned striking from Aldo’s character in the UFC game, beat Aldo via striking. Finally, the student beat his master – of sorts.
Holloway has remained silent for a while now, not fighting for quite a while since he fought Alexander Volkanovski. It’s a delight for fans to watch the former UFC Featherweight champion, so it’ll be interesting to see who he decides to fight next.
