Michael Chandler took the MMA world by storm with his UFC debut. MMA fans were oblivious to Chandler even though he had a successful career with Bellator. Chandler was a three-time champion in Bellator’s lightweight division. Chandler was a recent guest on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast. The UFC lightweight spoke highly of UFC CEO Dana White and UFC CBO Hunter Campbell on the podcast.
The podcast hosts asked Chandler to talk about the UFC executives, particularly Dana White and Hunter Campbell. UFC CBO Hunter Campbell famously handled the UFC-USADA split. This is what he said:
Dana is the forward-facing one, mainly. I think, you know, you see Hunter's name being thrown around a little bit more, with Dana referencing Hunter publicly and different things. Hunter handled some of the USADA announcement and all that stuff because he's a lawyer for the UFC. But yeah, I mean, I do a lot of my stuff directly with Hunter. There are a lot of big-name fighters that you all know that go do a lot of stuff directly with Hunter Campbell..... Dana can't handle it all. He handles all the announcements, he handles all the forward-facing stuff in the media, but Hunter's the guy that I go to 90% of the time.Michael Chandler via Bussin’ with the Boys
Hunter Campbell remains an integral part of the organization. Former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan are the hosts of the podcast, and they are close friends of White, especially Lewan. Lewan and Stephen Deleonardis famously gifted Dana White half a million dollars. Lewan and White even came to Deleonardis’s rescue when he had a hard time gambling.
Michael Chandler does not have a fight officially scheduled by the UFC. However, Conor McGregor had announced that he would fight Chandler on June 29. Chandler coached against McGregor at the Ultimate Fighter season 31, and fans highly anticipate their potential fight.
Michael Chandler on the Republic of Ireland natives hating Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor has not fought since July of 2021. He broke his leg in his last fight with Dustin Poirier and lost the fight via doctor stoppage. McGregor rose to the top of the MMA world with the support of the Irish natives and Irish Americans. However, in his recent appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, Michael Chandler shared the change in McGregor’s perception of his country.
Chandler revealed that every Irish person he met did not have nice things to say about McGregor. He stated that the Irish people felt McGregor left them behind after he became rich. McGregor’s luxurious life contrasted with most blue-collar workers in the Republic of Ireland. Nonetheless, McGregor was recently active in his country’s political affairs.
Chandler fully hopes to fight McGregor on his return. Moreover, he remains certain that he can get a second-round victory in their potential fight. Like McGregor, Chandler last fought Dustin Poirier. He lost the fight via third-round submission at UFC 281.
