Austin Theory got to the limelight of WWE as soon as he won the Money In The Bank briefcase at the said Premium Live Event. There have been multiple changes in his name over the years. However, hardly any fans know the story behind Austin Theory real name vs in-ring name.

Austin Theory, as wrestling enthusiasts know him by, has the real name Austin White. The 25 year old star made his WWE debut in 2018. He had an average run at the company before he was invited to the company’s main roster. Theory did not have much recognition in the company before he won the Money In The Bank briefcase.

Austin Theory got changed to Theory following the suggestions of the then CEO – Vince McMahon. However, as soon as Triple H got the absolute power of the company’s creative, he returned the original names of many superstars and Theory was one amongst these. He seemed to be extremely happy at getting his name back.

Even after winning the Money In Bank briefcase, he failed to cash in the same on numerous occasions. This invited a lot of ‘non-deserving’ comments on the winner. However, with his presence of mind and quick reaction, he was able to win the triple threat match against Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley. Not only did he win the match but also won the United States Championship and is currently the US champion on the main roster.

What is the reason behind the Austin Theory real name change?

There are hardly any stars working in the WWE who perform under their real name and Theory was no different. He once recalled the event that inspired him to adopt the name ‘Austin Theory’ as his ring name.

Austin has been a wrestling enthusiast since his childhood and had wanted to step inside the ring since he was 8. He recalled a childhood encounter where he and his friend were playing ‘Tekken’ on PSP. Austin was never so enthralled with video games but had remembered a player with the name ‘Brandon Fury’.

The name seemed to be quite exciting to him. However, Austin couldn’t drop off his real first name ‘Austin’ but decided to do away with his last name. He thought of something that clearly rhymed to the name he had found cool. He thus adopted the name ‘Theory’ which sounded similar to ‘Fury’. This is how ‘Austin Theory’ came into light.
