Is Tommaso Ciampa gearing up for a main roster debut?
Ciampa
Tommaso Ciampa is one of the best WWE Superstars and surprisingly, his entire WWE fanbase is due to his work on their black and gold brand – NXT. Ciampa is primarily known for his work on the independent promotion and Ring of Honor (ROH). He has two stints with WWE – while one ranged from 2005-07, the current stint kicked off 2015 and continued till date.
Throughout his second stint with NXT, Ciampa had been a part of the NXT roster and had rarely made appearances on the main roster. In 2015, he had started appearing on NXT, but his contract allowed him to appear on the independent promotions as well. In 2018, Tommaso Ciampa managed to capture the NXT Championship.
As soon as he captured the title he became just the second Superstar to hold both the NXT Championship as well as the NXT Tag Team Championship. Earlier this year, Ciampa defeated LA Knight, Pete Dunne and Von Wagner in a Fatal 4-Way match to win the vacant NXT Championship and kick off his second reign. But his second reign was no where close to his dominant first reign. In fact, Bron Breakker ended that reign recently at New Year’s Evil.
After losing his title to Breakker at the NXT special event, Ciampa hinted that his run with NXT has come to an end. He tweeted out a simple “Thank You” tweet accompanied with a black and gold heart (the original colors of NXT). But this doesn’t necessarily mean that Ciampa is done with a company.
While other veterans of NXT like – Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano have parted ways with the company, Ciampa could be moving to the main roster. His goodbye tweet came near to Royal Rumble – which has given rise to the speculation that he might be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble matches.
Tommaso Ciampa could be a part of several dream feuds
The possibilities are endless, if WWE decides to take Tommaso Ciampa to the main roster. He could have some legendary feuds with the likes of Seth Rollins and Randy Orton – with whom he has a heated past! In fact, either of the main-roster shows could use his starpower – especially Smackdown, who are in constant search for an opponent for Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Irrespective of whether Tommaso Ciampa moves to the main roster or not, one thing is clear that we might not be seeing more of him on NXT 2.0. His emotional monochrome message is a strong indicator that he is done with the third brand.
