Since the meteoric rise of The Bloodline and the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, fans have been expecting The Rock to return and add a new layer to the story. Since The Rock also belongs to The Bloodline and is Roman’s cousin, it would’ve been so fitting as well. The Great One was rumored to return and challenge Reigns this year at WrestleMania. However, Rock couldn’t make it, possibly due to his busy Hollywood schedule. Recently, Cody Rhodes also commented on the previously rumored match.

Cody Rhodes addressed the rumors during an interview with Alex McCarthy on Inside the Ropes, Cody Rhodes addressed the rumors. The American Nightmare believes WWE has better options for the WrestleMania main event due to the ongoing storylines. Cody said, “With all the respect in the world to one of the GOATs, The Rock, it looks like the options we have here within the roster are even better because of the stories that are happening.”

Rhodes was referring to his comeback story, as well as the story between Sami Zayn and The Bloodline. While some fans still believe The Rock vs. Roman Reigns was the better option, Cody also has a valid point. WWE has hit a home run in terms of long-term storytelling since last year. If WWE was dependent only on part-timers to make WrestleMania big like before, the need for The Rock to return and face Reigns would’ve arisen.

However, since that is not the case this year, WWE might go on with the ongoing storylines. Still, if The Rock could make it, the Show of Shows would be even bigger. But even without “The People’s Champ,” WrestleMania this year has huge potential to be a great show.

At WrestleMania 38 last year, Cody Rhodes made his return as a surprise opponent for Seth Rollins. The night after his return, The American Nightmare made his intentions of winning the WWE title pretty clear. Rhodes competed inside Hell in a Cell last year with a torn pectoral muscle, which turned out to be a 5-star match. Following his performance, Cody became one of the top contenders to dethrone the Tribal Chief.

However, due to the torn pec, Cody had to stay out of the ring for the rest of 2022. At the Royal Rumble this year, Rhodes made a triumphant return to win the men’s Rumble match. Following his victory, Rhodes is set to main event WrestleMania 39 for the Undisputed WWE Universal championship.

Last week on Raw, Rhodes vowed to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, and the match was made official. However, things took a turn when Roman accepted Sami’s challenge to defend his title at the Elimination Chamber. On the latest episode of Raw, Cody addressed the situation and reflected on the possibility of taking on Sami Zayn at the Show of Shows instead.

Regardless of the outcome at the Elimination Chamber, The American Nightmare is confirmed to headline the Grandest Stage of Them All given his Royal Rumble victory. The probability of Cody walking out of WrestleMania as the new champion is higher considering his comeback story.
