LA Knight’s popularity is reaching new highs every week, as this time around he goes toe-to-toe with arguably the biggest star WWE has ever seen. The Rock recently returned to WWE after four years, to a thunderous reaction from the WWE Universe. The videos and clips of his return have received over a hundred million views across all social media.
The Rock’s return video on YouTube received 1.4 million views in 12 days. Surprisingly, the video featuring LA Knight, where he teaches his catchphrase to Cinnamoji, has already gained 1.8 million views in just 6 days. Knight’s popularity has been at an all-time high, and it is conspicuous. WWE is aware of this and has started pushing The Megastar as one of their top talents.
WWE treats the 40-year-old on the same level as Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. This was evident as WWE gave refunds to the fans as LA Knight’s appearance was scrapped last month because he contracted COVID-19. This has never been done for mid-carders or random superstars. The likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and such usually get that type of preferential treatment.
Therefore, fans will have to wait and see if Knight holds a title before 2023 ends. He issued a warning to all the champions in the roster, putting them on notice. The Megastar called out Gunther, Rey Mysterio, Seth Rollins, and even Roman Reigns in his recent promo. He also said that he ain’t scared of anyone and will be a champion soon.
Latest updates on LA Knight’s status for SmackDown
LA Knight’s COVID-19 diagnosis and the subsequent pullout disappointed the fans. WWE revealed later that he was to appear in the main event segment and help out John Cena. This would set up their match against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa on the upcoming Fastlane. Therefore, fans took to social media to wish Knight a speedy recovery and a return soon.
PWInsider is now reporting that LA Knight might be ready just in time for this week’s SmackDown. The isolation period for COVID-19 is around a week. Therefore, if the medical reports are good before the show, Knight might be back to join forces with the 16-time champion.
WWE has currently announced it as a 2-on-1 handic*p match for Fastlane. However, this might soon change, according to Knight’s status. The names rumored to join John Cena were AJ Styles, LA Knight, Randy Orton, Jey Uso, and others. However, Knight looks like a real possibility.
Styles, taken out last week by The Bloodline, is out of the equation. Randy Orton, on the other hand, was seen preparing for an in-ring return. Fans would love to see the career rivals team up for one more time after working in WWE for over 20 years.
