This week’s Friday night SmackDown is going to be an epic affair as we will get to see Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn in a tag team match against Kevin Owens and the returning John Cena. After nearly a year and a half, the Cenation leader will return to action. Cena’s last known televised encounter was against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021.
He lost the Universal Championship match to Reigns at the event. John Cena’s last known bout in reality was a non-televised dark match. He teamed up with Rey Mysterio and Dominik to fight the Usos and Roman Reigns. The Mysterios and Cena successfully defeated the members of the Bloodline.
This shows that there was involvement of Roman Reigns in Cena’s last known bouts. With Reigns currently dominant and Sami Zayn’s incredible in-ring psychology, fans believe it will be difficult for John Cena and Owens to beat them. However, some members of the WWE Universe feel that Zayn and Reigns will be defeated, and it will be the start of the downfall for The Bloodline.
Meanwhile, Roman Reigns is confident that he and Sami Zayn will defeat Owens and Cena. Reigns posted today on Twitter that he will make sure that Owens and Cena are forgotten by the time it’s 2023.
“They’ll be smashed in 2022 and forgotten by 2023. #SmackDown”
Update on Roman Reign’s title reign
Roman Reigns has surpassed 850 days as a World Champion. The only men ahead of Roman Reigns in terms of longest World Champion reigns are Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, and Bob Backlund. Since this year’s WrestleMania, Roman Reigns has been the WWE Champion and has held that title for 270 days as of today. There have been many speculations on who would dethrone The Tribal Chief, with Cody Rhodes, Dwayne Johnson, and Bray Wyatt as possible names.
However, the Tribal Chief is expected to walk out of WrestleMania 39 with both titles. According to Xero News, the split will occur after WrestleMania, and Roman will vacate the titles during the draft after WrestleMania.
“The only talks about Roman splitting the titles are to vacate the title in the draft after Mania. As been reporting for a while now. Other than that there is no other talks/plans for roman to drop outside of using the draft to do this. 3 sources have stated this.”

Roman Reigns’ reign as World Champion will undoubtedly go down as the best in the history of WWE. 2023 will probably be the last time fans will see Reigns as the World Champion, as The Bloodline will eventually crumble and the initial stages will begin at the start of next year. Roman Reigns, who has other ambitions besides wrestling, may not appear much after losing the titles and disbanding the Bloodline.
