800 and counting: When will Roman Reigns lose his Undisputed WWE Universal title?
Roman Reigns has proven to be an unstoppable force, amassing a reign of over 800 days as the WWE Universal Champion, which he won by defeating Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt at Royal Rumble 2020. He further won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 by defeating Brock Lesnar and has held it for over 200 days till now.
The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is still going strong and looks in no mood to hand over the title to anyone else as of now. Reigns is currently the 5th longest-reigning World champion in the company’s history and is the longest-reigning champion of the modern era. But just like every title reign, this would also has to end someday, and today in this article we look at the potential scenarios when Roman Reigns will lose his title
A Dream Match with The Rock at The Mania!!!!
The first scenario is the most rumored one. The Rock is expected to show up at WrestleMania 39 and finally end Roman Reigns’ dominant reign as champion. Though there is no official confirmation regarding The Rock’s return at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All,’ the rumors suggest The Rock will be there at WrestleMania 39 when it goes Hollywood.
This can further allow a push to a relatively younger star because if The Rock defeats Reigns to become the new champion, his reign would be short-lived because of his Hollywood commitments. Someone like Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins, or even Austin Theory can capitalize on this golden chance to become the new face of WWE.

The American Nightmare to End The Tribal Chief’s Dream Run?
The second scenario is if The Rock doesn’t show up at WrestleMania 39. Cody Rhodes, who made a surprise return to WWE last year, can be the ideal candidate to dethrone Reigns as the ‘Head of The Table.’ There were big plans for Rhodes when he returned to the company, but a torn pec derailed his push, and the rumored dethroning moment never became a reality.
Rhodes dominated his first rivalry with Seth Rollins and there were plans to put him in the title picture, but unfortunately, he was injured right before his match with Rollins at Hell in a Cell. Though he still fought the match with a ruptured pectoral muscle and even won the match.
Reports state Rhodes is recovering well and can return to Royal Rumble next year. Thus, if The Rock doesn’t return at the Mania, Roman Reigns will mostly lost the title to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania Hollywood. As The Bloodline came on top at Survivor Series: WarGames, Roman Reigns can now focus on his next opponent, which is reportedly revealed according to the latest update by WrestlingNews.Co.

According to the report, the initial plans were for a feud between Sheamus and Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble, but it seems like plans have changed now. Roman Reigns is likely to face Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Though Reigns is unlikely to lose the title to Owens, this can provide a huge push to ‘The Prizefighter’ who desperately needs it after having an on-and-off season inside the squared circle in the last couple of months.
