WWE Smackdown results – 21/05/2021 (Parade of Champions, Aleister Black returns)
Champions of Smackdown
The episode of WWE Smackdown kicked off with all of the WWE Smackdown Champions, except Roman Reigns on stage. Sonya Deville welcomed the Parade of Champions.
Parade of Champions
Deville mentioned that WWE will be returning to live events and leaving the Thunderdome in July. Crews takes the microphone and says that he won’t be defending his title but retaining his title tonight.
Deville then called out Roman Reigns, but Paul Heyman came out. He mentioned that Reigns was not a title holder, he is a Champion. The preeminent Champion, in all of sports entertainment. He is the reason that people will buy the tickets with confidence.
Heyman said that Reigns will not be a part of the Parade of Champions but there will a separate Parade of Champion just for him, later. Heyman left. Deville said that it was the first surprise of the night, and probably not the last.
Bayley’s segment
While Sonya Deville was still in the ring, Bayley jumped over the barricade and came into the ring. She said that she wasn’t even acknowledged. She held the title for 380 days in the Thunderdome era. She was also a Double Champion.
She said to Dominik that he should thank her for carrying the company. She told Rey that he has overstayed his welcome. Natalya and Tamina cried about their titles. She said what’s up to Azeez and Crews.
Bayley called Bianca the biggest cheater who used her ponytail as a weapon. She was a criminal and should be stripped off her title, she suggested to Deville. Bianca walked down to the ring, but was attacked by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Natalya and Tamina ran in but couldn’t make the save.
Bayley, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler def. Tamina, Natalya and Bianca Belair
Nia started with an elbow hit onto Tamina. She threw Tamina in the corner and Shayna tagged in. Right hands by Shayna followed by a snap mare. Bayley was tagged in and she stomped on Tamina. She went for a suplex but Tamina reversed it into a suplex.
Natalya was tagged in. She connected a couple of suplexed. She went for a bodyslam but Bayley landed on her feet and slammed Natalya down. Bianca Belair climbed the top rope but Bayley and Nia grabbed Shayna to the outside. Bianca hit a cross body off the top rope onto all three women on the outside.
Bayley attacking Bianca’s left leg and knocked Natalya off the ring apron. Bayley went for an elbow but Bianca moved out of the way. Tamina was tagged in. She threw Bayley into the turnbuckle and even knocked Shayna and Nia off the ring apron.
Natalya was tagged back in. She went for a clothesline but Bayley ducked and tagged Shayna. Natalya went for the sharpshooter but Shayna kicked her away. Nia attacked Natalya as all six women brawled in the ring. Bayley hit a Bayley to Belly onto Bianca on the outside. Shayna applied the Kirifuda Clutch onto Natalya for a win via submission.
Shinsuke Nakamura def. King Corbin
Prior to the match, Corbin had called out Nakamura for taking away his crown last week. But a man with a guitar walked out. It was NXT’s Eric Bugenhagen, who introduced himself as Ric Boogs. He said he had come to rock with the real king of Smackdown. He played Nakamura’s theme as he came out wearing the crown, with Pat McAfee playing the air guitar!
A clothesline by Corbin at the start of the match. Corbin got on the ring apron and clotheslined Nakamura. Corbin went for a power slam but Nakamura landed on his feet and he hit a back stabber. Nakamura went for the Kinshasa but Corbin moved out of the way and hit a German suplex.
Corbin went for a chokeslam but Nakamura hit a knee to the face. A Deep Six by Corbin. He went for the cover but Nakamura kicked out. Boogs played Nakamura’s theme again on the outside which distracted Corbin. Nakamura hit the small package for the win.
Roman Reigns’ parade
The Universal Champion came out to the ring with Paul Heyman and Jey Uso. Roman said that he believes himself to be a humble man and he even teaches his sons about humility. But he would like to take the opportunity to allow his special council to celebrate him.
Paul said that it was a unique surprise. He has gotten a moment to acknowledge the tribal chief. Undefeated since his return to WWE, scared the Fiend over to Raw, humanized the monster Braun Strowman, baptized his own cousin back into the championship bloodline, KO’d Kevin Owens, scored the most convincing pin fall in the history of WrestleMania main events when he stacked Edge and Daniel Bryan on top of each other and pinned them both as if it wasn’t a triple threat match but a handicap match.
Roman made sure that we never see Edge again and even banished Daniel Bryan from SmackDown. And at the backlash he went against the strongest, most talented grappler on the SmackDown roster, Cesaro. Roman Reigns beat Cesaro on his own, with no one’s help at Cesaro’s own game. It was a career highlight.
Roman asked him to bring him his cousin. Paul Heyman told the time keeper to play Jimmy’s music. Out came Cesaro with his arm in a sling. Roman asked to cut his music. Cesaro said he was looking for Seth but what he could hear was this yapping in his ear and realized it was Roman.
He told Roman he would fight him with no arm and he challenged Roman to another match at Hell in a Cell. Seth attacked Cesaro from behind. He threw Cesaro into the steel steps and attacked his arm as the WWE officials broke it up. Seth walked to the back, ran down and attacked Cesaro again.
Dominik Mysterio def. Robert Roode
Roode got Dominik into the corner as soon as the match began. He hit two suplexes. Roode went for a third suplex but Dominik Mysterio reversed it into a small package. He placed Dominik on the top rope as Dominik pushed him down.
Dominik went for a tornado DDT but Roode threw him away. He went for the 619 but Ziggler got on the ring apron. Rey threw Ziggler into the steel steps. Roode went for a spear in the corner but Dominik moved out of the way. Dominik hit the 619. He climbed the top rope and landed a frog splash for the win.
Apollo Crews def. Big E, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn (retains Intercontinental Championship)
Owens started off with a clothesline on Sami in the corner. Big E attacked Apollo Crews as Sami and Owens fought on the outside of the ring. A back elbow by Big E took Crews down. Owens came in hit with an atomic drop.
Sami attacked Owens from behind but Big E threw Sami onto the ring apron. Big E even knocked Apollo down and placed him next to Sami on the ring apron. Big E landed the big splash on the duo as Owens jumped over the top rope onto Big E.
Crews slammed Owens into the steel steps. He got on the ring apron and hit a standing moon sault onto Big E on the outside. Sami attacked Crews but Crews slammed him into the barricade.
Kevin threw Sami into the ring and landed a senton. He went for the cover but Big E broke it up. Crews landed a series of German Suplex onto Big E. Sami went for the Helluva kick but Owens moved out of the way. He went for the stunner but Sami reversed it into the cover.
Crews threw Big E to the ropes but Big E hit a belly to belly. Owens climbed the top rope but Crews tripped him up. Sami went for the big boot onto Apollo but Apollo blocked it. Big E connected a German on Sami and Apollo. Kevin hit a frog splash on Big E.
Sami hit the Blue Thunderbomb onto Kevin. He climbed the top rope but Apollo got on the ring apron. Sami knocked him down. Sami grabbed Owens to the outside and threw him into the barricade. He ran towards Owens but Owens threw him over the barricade.
Big E hit Crews with the Big Ending. He went for the cover but Azeez pulled Big E to the outside. He lifted Big E up but Big E pushed him into the ring post. Big E got back in the ring but part of the lights go off.
Blue and white smoke filled the screen. Out came Aleister Black. He got in the ring and hit Big E with the Black Mass. Crews went for the cover and got the pin.
