There seems to be a growing rift between Jaylen Brown and the media at the moment. After having the best individual campaign in terms of performances and numbers, the Boston Celtics traded away their superstar player.

It has been a difficult two weeks for Brown. After leading the Celtics to a championship with a Finals MVP two years ago, Brown would have never expected to be in trade talks once again after four years when the club tried to trade him away for Kevin Durant.

Brown called out the media for using “anonymous sources” to get away with how they actually feel. On his latest live stream, Brown went on a rant against journalists, namely Colin Cowherd and Stephen A. Smith.

They use ‘anonymous sources’ to hide behind things they actually feel, or to hide behind things that are actually bigotry. ‘It’s not me, it’s my anonymous source,’ but they don’t see the amount of damage that can do… It’s my character. Critique my performance all you want, but the line gets crossed.

Jaylen Brown said on his live stream

Jaylen Brown has been at it back and forth with Stephen A. Smith for a while now. The two have been taking shots at each other with Brown labeling the journalist ‘unethical’ a few days ago.

Meanwhile, Colin Cowherd said the reason for his trade was because he has a “disease”. His statements did not go down well with many.

The former Finals MVP believes that journalists often cite “anonymous sources” as a cover up for their personal opinions.

Bobby Marks recently cited an anonymous “analytics guy” and said that Brown is viewed as the “seventh-best player” in a team. His statements provoked a response from Brown on social media.

Over the last few years, there has been a rise of rifts between the players and journalists. Players often accuse mainstream media journalists of pushing narratives for views and their own benefit. Hence, several players have started their own podcasts so that they can engage with fans directly and establish their own narratives.

Former NFL star Shannon Sharpe came out in support of Jaylen Brown after the recent comments about him in the media.

I am a prime example. I left Fox. They said one thing. I didn’t say anything. People believed it. You never heard none of this about JB (Jaylen Brown) when he was there. You didn’t hear nothing about his teammates couldn’t tell him nothing. Seems to me he got along with everybody. Why didn’t you hear about he the smartest guy in the room before?

Based on Sharpe’s statements, he understands Brown’s frustrations with the media, but people will believe who they want to believe. Most of the negative news about Brown have been making the rounds only after his trade to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Emmanuel Acho lashes out against haters in defense of Jaylen Brown

The 2025-26 campaign was undoubtedly Jaylen Brown’s best season in terms of numbers. In a season with low expectations, he led the Celtics to a second place finish in the Eastern Conference standings with an impressive 56-26 record.

Another NFL star Emmanuel Acho was supportive of the forward after Colin Cowherd’s statements.

This Jaylen Brown report is disgusting! Why is it the black athletes who are always accused of being ‘too smart’?

Acho believes that the negativity around Brown has to do with race as well. He is an intelligent athlete who can think for himself and cannot be controlled by others.
