In an era where teams do not hold back from trading away key players to other teams, either due to cap requirements or other reasons, LeBron James has managed to keep his future under his control.
With the likes of Jaylen Brown and other players being moved around without them demanding a trade, it seems the power superstars had has been lost.
But the King is a free agent, which gives him unprecedented power to dictate where he wants to go and under what circumstances.
It pushes the teams interested in him to throw recruiting pitches, while also committing to certain requirements, something that the Lakers failed to do in his final few years there.
James’ naysayers are trying to paint the picture that he has no control over his future and that teams should not bother signing him. Hearing that, Kendrick Perkins decided to address it on First Take.
Everybody is waiting on LeBron James. Do I want him to hurry up and make a decision? Absolutely. But he is showing, once again, that he is still the most powerful person in the game of basketball… At the age of 41, LeBron James is still holding the keys to the entire NBA.
Kendrick Perkins said
The former center reiterated that LeBron James still moves the needle in the league, which is why teams have no problem waiting until he arrives at a decision.

Therefore, Perkins believes that fans and analysts, too, should sit back and enjoy the constant updates until the man himself comes out and delivers the news. The analyst reiterated that his former teammate has earned the right to take his time, and that is why he is keeping everyone waiting.
Miami Heat are firmly in the race to sign LeBron James
Now that he has the power to keep teams and fans waiting, LeBron James is listening to all the pitches being thrown in his direction.
While the conversations are mostly about the big-name teams such as the Golden State Warriors, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Philadelphia 76ers, another team is quietly in the hunt.
I would say, from speaking to people close to LeBron and people around the league, Miami remains a realistic possibility of where he’s going to choose.
Dave McMenamin said
The insider reiterated on The Rich Eisen Show that the current rumors may not involve the Heat, but he and his colleagues have heard rumblings that a return to Florida remains a possibility.

After all, LeBron James won his first two championships with them, and both Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo, along with team President Pat Riley, would welcome him with open arms.
The construct of the team might need some more work before it is capable of fighting for a championship. But that does not mean they are out of the race.
LeBron James could decide his future after July 19th
This waiting game is frustrating many people, and some want the drama to stop. But since LeBron James is intent on taking his time to decide where he will play next, certainly, their dissatisfaction will not stop any time soon.

It does feel like we are getting a bit closer here. It does also kind of feel like he is going to wait until after Summer League is over.
Jake Fischer remarked on Bleacher Report
The insider was giving an opinion based on the rumblings he had been hearing from team personnel, those from LeBron James’ camp, and other sources in the league.
That means when the Summer League ends on July 19th, fans, analysts, and anyone who follows the NBA will probably hear from the league’s all-time leading scorer.
