LIV Golf’s future is currently uncertain. While the league has announced a new lead investor and plans for the 2027 season, there are still some questions regarding them. On Thursday, Bryson DeChambeau spoke about the future and hoped his league gets “one more shot” following some scathing attacks from Rory McIlroy.
This week, LIV Golf is in Indianapolis for the final event of the year. Last week, the league officially announced the cancellation of the Team Championship event in Michigan.
Meanwhile, the PGA Tour is in St. Louis, Missouri, for the BMW Championship. Ahead of the 2nd leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, McIlroy was asked about his thoughts regarding the potential return of LIV Golf stars to the PGA Tour and what value they would bring.
During this, the World No.2 took another dig at the defectors. He went on to question what value the players brought to LIV Golf in the first place.
I mean, I would argue, have they brought value to LIV?

The 6-time major champion further added that those who want to return to the PGA Tour would have a major road ahead of them. DeChambeau, who is in the final year of his contract with LIV Golf, has seen his name linked with a move back to the Tour.
On Thursday, the American international was asked about the future of his league. While he did not mention the name of McIlroy, he expressed that his league did bring value and hoped people were a bit more open-minded.
It’s tough. It’s not easy. We definitely have a lot against us… If it works, it works; awesome. If it doesn’t, we’ll figure things out. Time will move on, and I would say that time heals things. I hope people can see that we actually bring value to the game of golf. My wish is that people give us one more shot and be open-minded.

Last week, reports emerged that LIV Golf was worried about losing Jon Rahm. The Spaniard was said to make a final decision regarding his future in the upcoming weeks.
Earlier this year, he, DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith also had the opportunity to leave LIV Golf and return to the PGA Tour through the Returning Member Program. However, the three of them turned down this chance and decided to continue with their current league.
Bryson DeChambeau received huge praise from LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil
In the past few years, Bryson DeChambeau has become one of the top names in golf. His increase in popularity through social media and YouTube has seen him become one of LIV’s biggest draws. As he prepares to negotiate his future, he recently received some huge praise from LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil.

His contract with the league will come to an end soon. The golfer has expressed confidence in the future of his league. However, there is still no clarity regarding his own future.
With a deadline looming over his current deal, O’Neil was asked about DeChambeau. While LIV’s top boss did not provide any details about this situation, he offered huge praise for the 2-time major champion.
I’ve never met one who’s truly, truly — not what they say but what they do. Truly focused and mission-driven, and he’s one of those guys. He cares about the global game of golf. He cares about building this next generation of fans. I don’t think anybody works harder on or off the course.

DeChambeau reportedly signed a $125 million deal with LIV Golf in 2022. With the uncertainty around the league, he could be forced to explore other options. Earlier this year, he expressed that he would focus on his YouTube channel if LIV ceased to exist.
On Thursday, he fired a score of 65 with 5 birdies. He was 12th, 3 shots behind leader Laurie Canter after the first round of LIV Golf Indianapolis.
