Recently, Pokimane joined the fray once again after a while of no dramas popping up under her name. And this time, the situation has gotten huge, involving multiple prominent streamers like xQc, HasanAbi, BruceDropEmOff, & even Valkyrie. This whole drama started with her comment about xQc accepting Kick’s $100 million contract.

The popular gambling site Stake owns the up-and-coming streaming service Kick. And many famous streamers are switching to it. Kick provides an income split of 95/5, in contrast to Twitch.

Additionally, Kick is a fairly new streaming platform that has more lenient content management policies and is a bit kinder to producers.

Well-known streamers xQc, Pokimane, and HasanAbi are currently involved in an ongoing conflict within the streaming community. On June 16, Felix and Kick agreed to a $100 million, two-year non-exclusive contract. A lot of people have praised him for receiving the potentially life-changing sum of money. While on the other hand, HasanAbi and Pokimane have expressed doubts about the contract because Kick is sponsored and co-owned by the gambling website Stake, while others have not.

The start of the drama

The whole drama started on 17 of June. Furthermore, this was just the day after xQc’s contract with Kick was made public. The drama started when Pokimane’s chat said, “Keep doubting Kick. It is already taking over,” while the streamer was reviewing xQc’s contract news. To this, Pokimane responded,

Respectfully, people that say stuff like this, you don’t understand that Kick makes Twitch money. Like, Kick is using Twitch’s services.”

What Pokimane was trying to convey with this statement was the Amazon Web Service’s Interactive Video Service that Kick uses. Everyone knows that Amazon owns Twitch. So with the reliance on Kick over Amazon services, Pokimane claimed the streaming service to be relying on Twitch. This statement from her incited fans, and soon enough xQc gave his reply on this too. He said,

Well, I’m confused. This is not how it works…I don’t have to be on the defensive here. Brother, Amazon isn’t Twitch. When will people get this? There’s a massive difference.”

Furthermore, Pokimane’s flawed statement soon spread around the internet like wildfire, and many eSports news outlets like Dexerto posted about it. And Pokimane swiftly made a counterstatement on this through a Twitter post.

This drama briefly included Asmongold, another popular streamer, when Pokimane replied to a comment under her tweet and mentioned Asmon’s name in it. Asmongold, too, didn’t keep to himself and gave a fitting reply to her, and fans found it really funny.

However, this was just the start of this drama, and much more was yet to come. Especially the involvement of HasanAbi.

HasanAbi’s involvement in the drama and his support towards Pokimane

HasanAbi, a close friend of Pokimane, shared his own viewpoint on the drama. He refrained from contradicting Pokimane’s statements due to their relationship.
Furthermore, he claimed that Stake’s ownership of Kick ultimately would gear xQc towards eventually incorporating gambling into his streams. This comment on Hasan’s part was actually a really outrageous claim and something which can not be determined as it’s not happened yet. Moreover, xQc didn’t step behind and responded to Hasan’s comments too,

“I get it. Protect queen Poki at all costs – means she gets to say whatever she wants and just claim dogsh*t and she’s given a free pass because she’s Poki. I get it Hasan. I get it man.”

Hasan’s involvement with the drama started from here, and once again, this was not the end.

Pokimane’s take on against joining Kick due to morals

This whole drama further escalated with Pokimane’s comment during a live stream on 21st June. On June 21, Pokimane discussed the option of receiving $10 million to join the Kick during a live stream. However, she instantly refuted that, in reality, she wouldn’t do it. She said it was not about the sum of money but rather ‘ morals ‘and ethics.’ She said,

“Nope! No. It’s not because I got, like, $10 million. It’s just because… I’m good as I am. Why would I compromise my morals and ethics for more money when I have money?”

Pokimane

And this was the major spark that further made this drama out of control. With this comment, Pokimane directly called out every other streamer who has switched platforms after accepting a contract. And her statement especially targeted xQc, who has just taken a $100 Million contract. In response to Pokimane’s remarks, xQc swiftly expressed discontent and highlighted that Amazon itself had been involved with suspicious contracts.

He said, “How about we talk about the Amazon and the Draft King’s deal? How about we talk about that? Or can we talk about her close friends who took ACR (poker) deals? Or, we could talk about her other close friends who took Stake deals and gambled daily”

And with this, the whole drama gained the majority of its traction.

Pokimane’s feud with Valkyrae

Valkyrae discusses her talk with Pokimane during the stream

The drama continued with a new character, Valkyrae had congratulated both xQc and Kick through a tweet. To this end, Valkyrae revealed during her live stream on June 21 that Pokimane has called her yesterday privately to talk about this.

Valkyrae said Poki called her out over her support towards xQc and Kick. She said,

“I had a discussion with Poki the other day, actually. Privately. I tweeted, ‘Congrats to xQc and Kick,’ because I think it’s like a win-win situation for both parties. And, she reached out and was like, ‘Kind of surprised that you were publicly supporting it.’

Valkyrae did say that the association of Kick with gambling is bad, despite the fact that the streamer claimed to have loved gambling herself. She said that it’s actually bad when you’re streaming it to people, and they may get influenced by it. But it’s all just a potential and not a hard and fast scenario. But Poki still called the streamer to question her support of this contract, which did come as a shock to fans. However, considering the good friendship between both Poki & Valkyrae, the situation didn’t escalate, and they didn’t end up fighting over it.

Big debate between Pokimane & HasanAbi against xQc

YouTube video

On 21st June, Pokimane and Hasan joined a conference call with xQc, during xQc’s stream. This was where the situation actually skyrocketed. The three engaged in a heated debate with no side conceding. Pokimane emphasized throughout the live stream that she feared joining Kick would make her compromise her morals because she has always opposed gambling. While that could be okay for xQc, she highlighted that it would go against her own ideals. And this incited xQc as all this supposed calling out was done over a situation that hasn’t even happened yet and is just speculation.

Hasan highlighted his constant worry about the fact that Stake was funding Kick, which he saw as a major problem. Felix responded to their claims by claiming that Kick is actually a live-streaming service rather than a gaming website. To this, Hasan went as further as called xQc ‘Trainwashed.’ With the debate going nowhere, xQc ended the stream and posted his views on Twitter.

And Pokimane did the same but through her alternate handle.

There have been further feuds, with BruceDropEmOff calling out both Pokimane as she is an established streamer with over 10 years in the industry and criticizing decisions made by young streamers. The drama is yet to end, with almost new streamers getting involved in it every day. How long will this go on for? No one can say for sure, but what fans know is that no side is backing down any time soon.
