New Principal Partner for AlphaTauri: Polish company Orlen comes onboard

New Principal Partner for AlphaTauri: Polish company Orlen comes onboard

In 2022, Red Bull‘s sister team AlphaTauri did not find much success as they ended up in the second last position in the team standings, only above Williams. Just two years ago, AlphaTauri had double the points that they scored last year, and the team had also scored their very first Grand Prix victory thanks to Pierre Gasly‘s brilliant drive in Monza. The dip in the Italian team’s performance has been noticed by many, and it always boils down to one simple point–budget. The team, although a subsidiary to Red Bull, does not enjoy the huge budget that RB does, and they have this struggled to come up with newer innovations to improve their results.

But in the upcoming F1 season, things seem to be on the upside for Scuderia AlphaTauri. They have welcomed a new racer–Nyck DeVries in place of Gasly, who is going to shift to Alpine now. And on top of that, the team has scored their new ‘Principal Partner’–and it is none other than the Polish company PKN Orlen. They have previously been associated with Robert Kubica, Poland’s only racer to compete in Formula 1 till date. As per the reports, Orlen, who had previously sponsored Sauber, have come aboard the AlphaTauri ship for a multi-year contract.

For the unprecedented, PKN Orlen a massive gas and oil corporation operating from central Europe. They have their bases in about 100 countries, so their capital investment must be of a huge amount as well. It has also been reported that Orlen’s logo will feature clearly on the new livery of AlphaTauri‘s AT04, which will be first shown to the public on 11 February in New York.

Announcing the happy news regarding AlphaTauri’s signing with Orlen, their Team Principal Franz Tost said in a press conference, ”I’m pleased to be starting the 2023 season with such positive news for the team. I’m looking forward to seeing their logo featured on our new car at the launch in New York City next month and also how this partnership progresses over the coming years.’

Not only Tost, but the CEO of PKN Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, has also expressed his joy for the partnership AlphaTauri. Formula 1 has now become a worldwide phenomenon and being associated with an F1 team would help Orlen become more relevant to their international customers. On the other hand, AlphaTauri will get their much-needed funds now to finally start working on technical developments to get closer to the front of the grid.
