F1 drivers react to Las Vegas Grand Prix

F1’s popularity is definitely on the rise after a season which literally had everything. It was a roller coaster of emotions and also saw a rivalry for the ages between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. F1 was in search of something like that to make an impact and expand its reach as a sport. It was always looked a rich man’s sport but that perception has definitely started to change.

The credit should also go to  the Netflix series “Drive to survive.” The series has definitely put the sport back on the map and help it gain back its popularity. The youth has been able to reconnect with the sport with F1 going on an OTT platform which has helped a sport which was slowly becoming redundant with more options for audience to capture their imagination.

Now was the time for the FIA to put the foot on the pedal and it has definitely decided to do it by bringing back the Las Vegas Grand Prix after a break of 40 years. The Grand Prix is set to make its comeback in 2023. It’s going to be more than a Grand Prix because Vegas is more than a city and kind of attention the sport will get, might be unprecedented. This seems to be a masterstroke.

All the F1 drivers seemed to be really excited after the announcement. Some of them like Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz just could not believe that it is happening. It’s going to be a dream come true for most of the drivers.

Max Verstappen jokingly said, “It would also be nice if this race does not come after another race or is directly followed by another race. ‘Some drivers might not even wake up in time for the race.”

Daniel Ricciardo took it to whole another level when he said, “I was actually going to retire, but not now.” As reported by gpblog.

Lewis Hamilton said, “That’s going to be a pretty hardcore event.”

Pierre Gasly also couldn’t hide his excitement when he said, “That’s going to be insane.” As reported by Formula1.

This is definitely one of the Grand Prix that all the fans and the drivers have been waiting for. Finally, the dream is coming true. We just have to wait one more to see our favorite drivers race in the 6.12km street circuit in Las Vegas.
